It looks like the champs will find out a little bit about themselves right out of the gate!

The Central Wartburg game will be homecoming so I will be there.  Go Dutch!

Early HC - 1st conference game. Is that typical for the Dutch? Makes it an even tougher start for the Knights!

Back in the late 80's/early 90's there were a couple of Central homecomings around mid October that got hit by blizzards.  Since then most have been mid to late September and the weather was beautiful for everyone I got to.  This year's football game was in a near hurricane but at least it wasn't snow and the weather before and after the game was mild.  The 2014 homecoming will be late by Central standards.

Former Loras coach Chris Klieman named HC at North Dakota St.

http://www.thonline.com/sports/other_sports/article_6a02e019-e4ef-5e1b-afd3-9096ea1613f4.html

From the article...

Klieman served as an assistant coach at Loras College from 2001-04 and went 3-7 as the Duhawks' head coach in 2005.

I couldn't confirm is losing to Dubuque on the last weekend of that 2005 season convinced Klieman to move elsewhere  ;)

Tyler Rutenbeck of Dubuque named AFCA All-American.

His stats for this season were 68 receptions, for 1,269 yards, and 22 TD's

Congrats

Not sure how to post a link on here but I will try.

A study done by UWW on school efficiency and DIII athletics.

I hope it works.

The link worked.  Thanks.

That's what you get for being in title contention in EVERY darn sport.

It would be interesting to see enrollment figures, yearly giving levels, and what not from before and after Ohle got to Wartburg and really bumped up the athletics department there.

NewKnightDad

I was surprised that Wartburg was listed in the top 10.

Was really surprised at how many Wisconsin school there were.

Loras promotes from within...

Yikes -  :o
Promoted from within a team that has been 4-26 (.133) during the time the new coach has been an assistant at Loras.  :-[
His record as head coach at his previous gig was 15-32 (.319).    ::)
It appears the UD Spartans will be reigning City of Dubuque champions for years to come.  :D

I don't know anything about the Gagliardi Trophy winner, but he has a nice satorial thing going.  I like the contrasting vest.  I'm sure that look works better for him than it will for me when my vest hangs out past my belt buckle, but I might give it a try.

And by satorial, of course I mean sartorial.  I hate it when I try to show off and mess up.

A little birdy sent me a sneak peek preview pic of the indoor practice facility that is almost complete at UD.  60 yards wide by 70 yards long gets you a full 53 1/3 yard width field, 50 yards long and one 10 yard endzone.  30 ft high at the sides and 50 ft high in the center.

And I found another new pic on twitter so here goes...

And a panoramic view of the completed facility...I would have added some windows, but damn nice facility...
