I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

D3 Football Preseason Poll is out  - http://d3football.com/top25/2014/preseason

Wartburg #17, only IIAC team rated or receiving votes.

Feels like football weather this week.

Congrats to the Warts for getting some pre-season luv.

Sharing some IIAC news, here is a blurb from the KNIA-KRLS web site.  Yeah I know it isn't much but I'll take whatever pub the Dutch can get.  What we need around here are a couple of fathers of players.  Those guys used to keep things interesting.

And one other note, RIP James Garner.  I guess I would put him around nine or ten on my list of all time coolest characters.

Prepping for camp here in a few weeks, the Central football team is gearing up to make a charge towards the top of the Iowa Conference in 2014. Coach Jeff McMartin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was another good recruiting year, and they'll be bringing in several players that could help them both this season and down the road. McMartin says regardless of the player/recruit they talk to, he and his coaching staff are very up front and honest with them about when and how much playing time they will receive. The Dutch finished 6 – 4 last year and open up the season on September 6.

Three weeks ago a Loras alum saw me wearing my UD wind breaker and stopped on the streets of Grand Haven, Michigan.  Today at Anderson's Market in Glen Arbor, Michigan in my UD cap I ran into another Loras alum in a Duhawks t-shirt.   Is this bad karma or what?

They can only wear that stuff far away from Dubuque  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Last year, Dubuque vs LaCrosse, looked as tho UD would walk away with the IIAC championship without contention.   Was LaCrosse that bad or did UD sputter?  UD looked so superior in that game.  Eagles fans were surprised and demoralized.

What are the Spartans outlooks for 2014?

It is good that Dubuque county  Goodwill is sending donations to other states

looks like Coe has landed a division II transfer at QB....any other news out there regarding possible impact players?

IIAC-Lifer

Heard Loras got a DII (St. Could St.) transfer at DE

I have no news to report. I am sure the coaches have been recruiting hard and have found some impact players for the near or distance future. We had a lot of impact talent to replace so I plan to reserve any opinions until I see them in live action.

But, I am confident the Spartans will field a competitive team once again. Will it be good enough to take down the almighty knights  ??? Only time will tell  ;)
