Floyd in Iowa City

Not too surprised by much here in the early going other than BV just flat out sucks. I talked to a couple coaches this offseason that thought they might be a darkhorse this year with some good talent returning. Were they full of **** or is BV just a huge disappointment so far?
Following Loras closer with JO there now and while they are improved its going to be a while until they are back to their traditional 4-6, 5-5, 6-4 selves.
Wartburg O has looked a lot better than I expected early. Willis always has a tough D.
Central with some young talent that will take some lumps this year but should bode well for the future.
Honestly forgot Luther played football...

Luther Football - An afterthought for much of the last 30-40 years!

I will take another Luther-Wartburg game like last year, except the good guy helmets win this time. ;D

Wartburg typically drops a game or two in mid-season.  It could be Luther as well as any other team.

On the other hand, if the Warts don,t go undefeated and two deep in the playoffs it won,t really be a great season for the Knights.

Well that's awesome...Dubuque plays Wartburg the 3rd week of conference play  ;D

Luther plays Wartburg on 10/25.  That might be too late. :(

The team that I have bad memories of is these games against Dubuque now that they are Zweifel Bowls.  The Norse have clearly been on the short end of it when Stan has been on the other sideline.

I'm just hoping WB overlooks the young Dutch squad and Central manages to get the win they deserved last year (right up till they lost).  Last year I went up expecting Central to get kicked and they lead most of the game, leaving me feeling like the team that deserved to win did not.  This year will be the same for expectations, maybe with a home field and homecoming...

Central had the best defense in the league last season, by a fair margin. So it's hard to say they were big dogs in last years game (I think most fans put that as a 50/50 game), and you certainly can't say they deserved to win last year. They will be big dogs this year, Wartburg will never overlook a Central team, and the only chance Cetral has is getting many many things figured out over the long layoff (essentially 2 weeks). They should be the most healthy they will be all year along with having a little extra homecoming motivation. If Central has any shot at beating Wartburg, this would be the ideal situation for it to happen...but I'm not holding my breath.

Wartburg will never overlook Central that I can guarantee. In fact Willis's preseason vote went to the Dutch if for no other reason than respect for the tradition and staff they have there.
Truthfully I wish Luther was a little better just so the rivalry could get hyped up a little more. Anyone associated with the rivalry knows there has been some awesome games, regardless of record (1999 comes to mind when undefeated Wartburg team had to make a late game stand to preserve win) but the pregame hype with Luther's struggles has really waned.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I like not having 1 team with a bye week each week during the conference portion of the schedule.  But I don't like having nearly the entire conference having the same off week now.  Almost nothing to talk about.

With that said...Hey Rex, I've heard whispers that UD is looking into returning a marching band to Chalmers field.  We'll let you on the Spartan bandwagon.  Dubuque is an easier drive from the Chicagoland area than Pella  ;)

Maybe I didn't read things correctly, and maybe I'm also not remembering well since it was late at night.  But I thought I saw on the CCIW board that there will be some sort of CCIW/IIAC challenge in football.  Is this reality?  I am way too lazy to dig deep and try to find facts so I'll just see if anyone on here knows anything.

This year the CCIW played a challenge with the MIAA (Michigan).  I'm not sure how long that will continue but I think it includes next year as well.

Congratulations to the right thinking people at UD for working on getting the band back together.  I'd say they're "on a mission from God."  It is true that I am a huge fan, thanks for noticing.  Try to have the Marching Spartans ready to go by the Central game 2015 please.

Give it a little time with this new Luther staff.  Remember Wartburg was a very limp team years ago.
Then the Central surge with Skipper.  What goes around, comes around.  That's what karma is all about.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

The last 16 years have been great years for Wartburg...with a big thanks owed to Coach Willis...and President Ohle!

Conference titles the 1st 61 years Wartburg was in the conference 1937-1997 = 6
Conference titles the last 16 years Wartburg has been in the IIAC 1998-2013 = 7

The 75th year of IIAC football was 1997...a year before Coe joined the league.  Conference titles for teams in the IIAC at that point.

Central - 22
Simpson - 12
Luther - 11
Upper Iowa - 7
Dubuque - 6
Wartburg - 6
BVU - 4
William Penn - 4
Loras - 0

With 9 seasons to go until we hit the century mark as a Conference, titles now stand...

Central - 30
Wartburg - 13
Simpson - 12
Luther - 11
Dubuque - 7
BVU - 4
Coe - 4
Loras - 0

The IIAC in the 16 years since Coe joined the league...
Central - 8
Wartburg - 7
Coe - 4
Dubuque - 1

Ok, I'm all stats out for the night.  I just watched some high school football, The Homecoming for Union of La Porte City.  Marshalltown Football league tomorrow to watch my son play.  If the Hawkeyes win tomorrow, I will watch the DVR after I get home.  Then, if I can figure out if Waldorf has  video, I will watch the BVU/Waldorf game.  Sunday I get to mow and do house chores  ;)  Good night!

BVU leading Waldorf 21-0 in the 1st quarter.  BVU already with 250 yards of offense.
