BVU leading Waldorf 28-14 at the half.  Waldorf doesn't have any sound on their webstream and the camera somewhat, sort of follows the action.  I only saw the last part of the 2nd quarter.  BVU defense looks somewhat vulnerable to the pass, strong against the run.  The BVU short passing game was able to move down the field in less that 2 minutes to score right before half time.  BVU offense looks great against Waldorf.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

BVU beat Waldorf 55-28.  BVU offense rolled up 644 yards and the defense forced 3 turnovers.  I only watched about half of the 2nd quarter.  I suspect last night was a case of BVU is better than what they showed in the 1st two games of the season + Waldorf is a bad team.

Even though it hasn't happened yet, I always like to be ready in case The Coach ever calls me for my advice on how Central can beat their next opponent.  The way I see it, he can't coach them to be bigger and he can't coach them to be faster.  So my advice is, he needs to coach them to be meaner.  Based on nothing but my views from a distance of the first two games, (the third game doesn't count) the thing The Dutch need to dial up a notch is their intensity.  Which now that I have typed that, I wonder what kind of statistic would measure team intensity?  Maybe number of exchanged high fives, or volume of big play celebrations or percentage of pupil dilations or frequency of bared teeth. I wonder if I can get a grant somewhere to study ways to measure teams' intensity.  In the meantime, I will just go with my gut that tells me, The Dutch need to fire up a whole lot to beat Wartburg Saturday.

]Truthfully I wish Luther was a little better just so the rivalry could get hyped up a little more. Anyone associated with the rivalry knows there has been some awesome games, regardless of record (1999 comes to mind when undefeated Wartburg team had to make a late game stand to preserve win) but the pregame hype with Luther's struggles has really waned.

Give it a little time with this new Luther staff.  Remember Wartburg was a very limp team years ago.
Then the Central surge with Skipper.  What goes around, comes around.  That's what karma is all about.

The last 16 years have been great years for Wartburg...with a big thanks owed to Coach Willis...and President Ohle!

Credit needs to be given to former AD Gary Grace as well, hired Willis, and many other coaches who have put Wartburg on top of All- Sports trophies for years too.
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

you have anymore offspring heading this way?

GO COE!!!

As a matter of fact...maybe...I've still got a 6'3" 190 lb nugget at home...Rev. 3 is a baseball player though.  He broke his leg in Spring 2012 and it's taken 2 years and 2 surgeries to get him all the way back.  We shall see...he'd be a 20 year old freshman.

Wait, I'm gone a little bit and Double D is knocked down to the JV?

Whahappened?

BTW, 3 Vista kids on the current Ram Roster...the pipeline is still flowing.  A starting Corner, a starting Slot Receiver, and backup RB.  And still no kick-backs!  Not one Sierra Nevada!

I may have to open the bidding for a new pipeline.    ;)

And I have to say it.

I do miss Iowa.   :)

POMS (Profile of Mood States) – the gold standard
If you're looking for a psychological assessment for measuring mood fluctuations that is used in clinical and research settings, POMS is your answer. The assessment consists of 65 emotion adjectives that are each rated on a five-point scale, where 0= not at all; 1=a little; 2=moderately; 3=quite a bit; and 4=extremely. The answers are then grouped into seven dimensions to give you an overview of your mood state:

Anger-Hostility
Confusion-Bewilderment
Depression-Dejection
Fatigue-Inertia
Tension-Anxiety
Vigor-Activity
Friendliness

Based on my 4 years of observation of Cornell playing in the IIAC, they routinely scored high on the Confusion-Bewilderment and Friendliness scales...

I kid.  I love me my gutty little Rams.   ;D

I stole a baby's lollipop...while dressed in a Wartburg hoodie  ;D

Ok, I took a break, but decided I missed talking IIAC on here so I came back!

I don't trust questionnaires.  I know how I lie on them.  FYI, if you are ever given a Rorschach Test, they look at you really funny if you eat any of the ink blots.  Anyway, I am looking for something more galvanic.  You know, like the way the hair goes up on a dog's back when he is ready to fight.  There is an equivalent for football players.  Once my research is complete you will call me Doctor Rex PhD.  And btw, welcome back PH.  I wish we had some players' fathers on here.  It keeps the conversation lively.

Luther is 3-0 on the season, but they are 1-4 in the annual Zweifel Bowl since Stan did not get the Norse job and took the position at Dubuque.

Luther was outscored a combined 74-0 in the last two UD losses under Coach Durnin.  Mike could not beat them any longer, so he joined the Spartan staff.

Last year the game was something like 56-20 in favor of the Spartans.  It was a fun UD homecoming for those cheering for the Spartans.

Every opponent the Norse beat in the non-conference is probably not near the level of the IIAC teams, but the game this Saturday is a huge test for the Norse with how uncompetitive they have played in the last three Zweifel Bowls.  I would rather open with B.V. ;D

Do they still show the Stan Zweifel Coaches Show?

I am assuming we are not doing a pick'ems board this year".."........or else I have forgotten how to access it.

In lieu of that:

UD over Luther.  Spartan lines, O and D both, will be too much for Norse.  Luther however will score some points.

Simpson over BV.  Storm have won big so will keep it rolling a bit longer.

COE over Loras.  Duhawks coming but not fast enough.

Knights over Central.  Warts will roll through the schedule with wins... Until they meet .................
in mid-season.
