It seems the video presentations around the Conference are sub-par.  Several games I tried to access were limp.

Does the conference have an agreement with some provider or is it just individual schools doing the best they can?   WARTBURG and UD seem to do the best job IMHO.

Wartburg beats BVU 43-24...about what I thought
Coe beat Luther 35-14...about what I thought
Central beat Simpson 17-0...about what I thought
Dubuque leading Loras 34-7 deep in the 4th quarter...about what I thought

My wife says I now need to help her put Halloween decorations away...about what I thought  ;)

Nothing unexpected today.  :-\

Grandpa Warthog eats free breakfast all week.  He had no takers when the old geezers were predicting a 7 point BV victory, but all kinds of hands shot up to take a bet when he offered to give 7.5 points.  ;)

It could have been a long day for the Knights, but either making your own breaks or having the ball bounce your way can make you healthy in a hurry.  The punt blocked for a Knight touchdown had to hurt BV.  Watching Wartburg gather in a fumble on the two as BV was going in for a score and then two plays later having the Knights go the other way for a 96 yard touchdown had to feel like a kick in the crotch for the Beavers.  :o

Wish the Knights would have put the clamps down on the two 4th quarter scores by the Beavers.  A 43-10 win would have been nice when comparing it to some of the other ass-kickings top twenty teams are putting on people.  Yet, I shouldn't be greedy.  43-24 is a win and I can remember a quarter century ago when this would have been a big deal rather than just the closest conference game so far this season.  8-)

I hope the predicted nice weather holds for next weekend.  It always seems to be cold at Simpson even when the weather is fair.  I'd like to watch a Storm/Knight game in seasonable weather.

Willamette just upset Linfield, so one would guess Wartburg moves up to #5 in the nation in the next top 25 poll.

Congratulations to the Dutch on securing another winning season.  I didn't think it would happen this year and am happy to be wrong.  Nice to finally have a shut out today and nicer to do it in front of the 1974 National Champions that were back for the 40th anniversary of that milestone in Central history.  That team had 5 shutouts in the 9 game regular season.  While Central has had a lot of fantastic defenses over the years, I doubt any team will break that record.

Central president accepted a check for $1.5 million today, wish they would use if for the long ago discussed plans to improve the football stadium.  Not that it isn't nice, but I really liked the plans I heard that now seem like I must have dreamed them.

Good luck to the Pella Dutch in the playoffs Monday night.  The team is undefeated and ranked #1 in their class.  Hope we are doing some local recruiting.  Some of you long timers on here may remember Central fan Mav45.  His son is the QB on the team.  Rich Kacmarynski's son is the QB for Pella Christian who bowed out of the playoffs Wednesday night.  Neither one is a senior yet, but hopefully Central will have a leg up on the competition if either one goes DIII in the future.

Willie....
If you disagree with my assessment of UD defense as limp for a top contender, please look at the overall defensive stats (prior to today's game who have not seen).  I think you will find I,m right on. :)

Stats don't tell the whole story. All I am saying is IMHO, the defense is better then UD defenses of previous seasons. The difference has been sloppy football at times(turnovers, penalties, not scoring when we should have).

It's no consolation for being a contender but whooping up on Loras today helps to take the sting away  ;) There is still only one sheriff in this town  ;D

U of Dubuque victim, Pacific, sits alone at the top of the NWC standings.

This comes after Linfield's surprizing home loss to Willamette today.  :o

Good to see that some of the teams that lost to IIAC schools early in the season are doing well in their conference races.  8-)

Phred, both the UD offense and defense has been jeckl and hyde this season.  There have been a number of games where the UD offense was anemic, which led to the defensive stats lacking.  When the UD offense is running smoothly, that UD defense looks better.  Both aren't performing up to expectations imo.  Hopefully they can finish strong to the season.  This season feels very similar to 2012.

I believe the first regional rankings will be coming out this week, so its officially time to talk playoffs.  With a loss for Linfield and with Wartburg conquering everyone without a challenge (Loras and Simpson left) I think we can be expecting a Wartburg bracket for the West, (after UWW goes north again). Beyond that I don't see much left to cheer about except Central's run of wins that has put them in the second place game next week VS BV.  Congrats to the Dutch for that but with BV and DBQ left on the schedule there is still work to do.

Central's loss to Monmouth (6-2) who is struggling to get into the MWC championship game won't bode well for their chances for a wild card bid.  BV lost its chance with the loss to Warty, dropping to 3 loses.  Lots of two loss and better teams in the West, including 5 in the MIAC and 3 in the WIAC.

Its been a good long while before the brackets have been built purely around regions. Some brackets have been more heavily weighted to a particular region then others but there have been other regions placed in too. There has been some god discussion about this in the Pool C thread in the general board. Either way I'm expecting Wartburg to get a two seed with the four brackets being based around UWW, UMU, UMHB and Wesley.

Barring upset, I think those are the likely 1 seeds as well. But we've been surprised by the committee's 'wisdom' before!

Lot of future IIAC (Hopefully Wartburg) talent will be on fields around the state tonight in the second round of the playoffs. If the rain gets through early it will be an awesome November night.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I am pretty sure there is no agreement among the IIAC and a provider.  Most schools use Stretch Internet for the feed and I know that Wartburg uses Livestream.  It really comes down to how much the individual schools decide to invest in quality of cameras and broadcasting equipment.
