wish some of the 10,000 lakes were frozen over so those Minnesota types could get back to ice fishing instead of writing about football :)

For some reason unclear to me they aren't focusing on beer either.  ???

Oh, they are.  I have several brave/stupid friends who have been out ice fishing already.

For the first time in my IIAC life, I'm a Wartburg fan!  Go Knights!

Not so bad is it?

I think Central should be in the playoffs with the 8-2 record. Yes, it was a tough loss to Monmouth early on, but they hung with 10-0 Wartburg in their only other loss.  Let's hope we can start to get two IIAC teams in the playoffs in the future.

I didn't see this til just now, but, um, no.  Not even close.  Two losses gets you uninvited from the dance unless you have one or more of the following:

a) a regional ranking
b) a big SOS
c) a couple of regionally-ranked wins
d) in the absence of C, genuinely close/competitive losses to regionally-ranked opponents

Central was not even regionally ranked.  The other teams on the Pool C board at the end included Framingham State (#4 in the East), North Central (#6 in the North), probably UW-Oshkosh, and who knows from the South.  Central is not even close to getting in over any of those teams.  Please go read the Pool C thread for awhile.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Central couldn't even get in before Monmouth, which beat Central head-to-head and was also 8-2.

Oh, boy.  I sure hope Warburg can beat the Tommies so we can meet in week two. Yes, sir.

I stand corrected.  I probably should have typed "I wish Central was in the playoffs at 8-2".  I honestly didn't look at all factors or even read the Pool C thread at all, just giving my opinion which is heavily biased towards the Iowa Conference when it comes to post season action.

Spurrier is a Dubuque fan but I bet Dubuque would play SJU.

The Knights aren't getting a lot of love in anticipation of their game against the Tommies.  Its like they think the IIAC will be one and done this Saturday.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I haven't seen anyone post that. Since Wart beat Bethel, and everyone else for that matter. I dread having the Johnnies travel to meet them in week two, if they can muster a victory over the juggernaut that is St Glenn and the Tommies ;D

Who is this "they" you speak of? As UST guy I certainly think the Tommies have their work cut out for them this weekend. I think if UST commits to the run and doesn't get too cute it will be a tight football game that will come down to the 4th quarter. UST's defense is suspect and the least impressive it has been since Caruso took over. That's my biggest concern.

They certainly aren't getting a lot of love from their own fans (queue the crickets).  What do you want us to do?  Both cheer for and against the mighty Wartburg Ka-nnnnnnnigits?
