So what should it look like in the final D3 football rankings.

UWW obviously is #1

In their final three games UWW beat Wartburg by 4, Linfield by 6, Mount Union by 9.
In their first two playoff games they won by 53 & 24 points.

Mount Union won their first four playoff games by 60, 67, 8 (John Carroll), and 49.

Based on this it seems the West region was strong.  Some of the others, not so much.

One would have to feel Wartburg & Linfield need to be quite a ways up the pecking order in the final analysis. Maybe 3 & 4?

1. UWW
2. Mount
3. Linfield
4. Wartburg
5. JCU
6. Wheaton
7-25 the field

Just because I'm biased:

UWW
Mount
Wartburg
Linfield
My reasoning:  Linfield lost one early in the season.  They lost to UWW by more than Wartburg, which was undefeated going into the quarterfinals.

Now, it will be really interesting to see how the preseason rankings come out this summer...

It will also be interesting to see if Rick Willis is in Whitewater come fall.  Hope not, but he's a genius.

Well, I am not biased (about these teams ;)) and had the same top four on my final national fan ballot.  My reasoning on 3 and 4 is the same as yours - for those who protest that Linfield lost in the semis rather than the quarters, that is just a matter of scheduling, unless you think Wartburg would have lost to Widener (does anyone who is not a Widener fan?).  (Linfield DOES have a win more impressive than any on Wartburg's schedule (@UMHB), but that is more than matched by their loss to Willamette).

To complete my top 8 I had: 5. JCU  6. UMHB  7.  Wheaton  8. Wesley.

I can't complain about Wartburg being picked # 4.  Rick Willis West Region Coach of the Year.  Three Knights are All-American.  Brinkmeier is the West Region Offensive Player of the Year.  Yep, a good year -- but I'm still a bit depressed...

Mr. Ypsi

The d3football.com top 25 came out exactly as I expected for the top 8, though as I posted, I would have flipped 3 & 4 and 7 & 8.  I already discussed my reasoning on 3 & 4; as far as 7 & 8, Wheaton has played UMU several times in the tourney - NEVER have they fallen behind 70-0!

Watching the Heart of Dallas Bowl.  Former Dubuque TE Tim Clary was just thrown to on a two-point try for Illinois.

He played the 2011 season for UD.  Was behind Miles Hookstead and fellow freshman Tyler Dobratz that year.  Saw action in 5 games and had 6 receptions for 28 yards and 2 TD's.  He walked on last season for the Illini and played in 10 games with 1 reception for 33 yards.  This year he has played in 12 games and had 1 kickoff return for 11 yards.

That is news for this time of year  ;)

the Common Man had a short interview (starting at 19:00) with Luther wideout Nathan Bloechl yesterday.

The highlights:
-Luther is not a religious school
-Playing in the triple option is not too much fun
-a Luther degree is valuable
-Nathan has never heard of Don Drysdale

I see four on your list here. Hopefully Maranatha has a program next year, because it didn't this year, for all practical terms:
