I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Proposed Regents Funding Model Discussed

Quote from: IPTV Iowa Press
Jeffrey Bullock, president of the University of Dubuque in Dubuque; Kent Henning, president of Grand View University in Des Moines; and Mark Putnam, president of Central College in Pella are the guests on this edition of Iowa Press. The program discusses concerns over the new Regents funding model and the impact it could have on private colleges/universities, student recruitment and retention, student debt and rising tuition costs, as well as successes and opportunities they see in the years ahead.  http://www.iptv.org/iowapress/episode.cfm/4222

Excerpts from the interview ...

Putnam: The real issue is do we want to direct resources in the state in a way that diverts attention to importing students where we can strengthen the state in the long run (32% of the students from out-of-state end up staying in the state) ... The University of Iowa is a tremendously strong university. It has a national reach, in fact global reach. And to create incentives for them to import students would be the best public policy.

Henning: ... there's an incentive to fight even more fiercely among us colleges and universities for Iowa students when what the state really needs is more students, more population coming in from other parts of the country.

Bullock: In terms of what it costs, what it costs the taxpayers of Iowa for every Iowa student going to a Regent school. None of us receive any kind of tax subsidies. So we're actually economic engines for our community. And so the economics don't add up to me personally.
