Thanks for the heads-up -- just for the record, note that this is not a signing but an invite to rookie minicamp.

Here is a video of Chris Norton walking to receive his Luther College diploma.

Inspirational story about keeping a positive outlook, no matter what life throws at you.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

UD safety Darren Myles signed with the Vikings today.

Hard to believe with all that talent, they could never muster a playoff run.

Tyler Rutenbeck now with the Colts.

Rutenbeck may be a long shot, but I imagine he has to like life better having Andrew Luck throwing to him over RGIII ;)

He replaces former Iowa St WR Josh Lenz.  Strangely enough those two trained together over this past winter in Dubuque at BBA Performance, which is owned by Michael Zweifel.

Hey Doolittledog, you have been heard.  This from an announcement about improvements to Schipper Stadium, The gravel drive at the south end of the stadium is being replaced by a paved path that will provide handicapped accessibility for the visiting team bleachers to the west. Gravel behind the east-side grandstand and bleachers will be replaced by a plaza featuring a combination of grass, trees and concrete.  Now if the team can just get back to to top of the IIAC where it belongs.

And moving on, usually this time of the year I try to make small talk about rule changes or other things that just barely affect me.  But, thinking about it, what I am really looking forward to is the next technological break-through that will allow me to follow Central football even more closely.  There was a time when all I knew about what was going on out there were the final scores in the Sunday newspaper.  Then, it was huge when I got the KNIA webcast.  The streaming video is hard to watch, but so much better than what I had before, that I have to pinch myself every time I watch a game to make sure I'm not dreaming.  So what do the techies on here think will be next?  I'm looking forward to higher def someday but that wouldn't really be a paradigm shift like techies always look for.

That's great news!  Maybe the Dutch will let me get my kids in for free for coming with the idea  ;)
Central does get props for being the only IIAC school I've visited that had visitor side concessions and toilets.  Making the trek over there handicapped accessible is appreciated by my family.

Tomorrowland tech improvements for DIII fans:  It would be cool if Central was the first DIII school to have a webcam follow football games from a drone.  And as long as I am playing Jules Verne, how about a 300 mph train from Chicago to Des Moines.  I could Uber it from there to Pella on game day.

The drone I think could be a real possibility...

There were 2 drones filming pre-game at last years Dubuque homecoming game against Simpson.

300 mph train from Chicago to Des Moines?

This article from 2010 mentions hopes of funding for a 100 mph train from Chicago to Iowa City, as well as plans for a train from Chicago to Dubuque.  Maybe the train from Chicago to Dubuque to watch your Dutch with a stop at the Doolittle tailgate is your best option ;)

Luther's first female AD joins BV's Christyn Abaray in the IIAC

"There seem to be more opportunities for women on the Division II and Division III levels. There are 43 female athletic directors in Division II and 128 in Division III. Women account for 19.1 percent of all athletic director jobs across divisions, but just 9 percent at Division I. The number shrinks to 4 percent at the FBS level."

Luther names Renae Hartl as AD

That is a good hire.  Has been with the school for 14 years as a coach and instructor, and 4 years in administration as the associate AD.  Nice to see her able to make the next step up the ladder without having to change schools.

As for football, I think my math shows 80 days until opening kickoff of the 2015 season...79 days if you are Luther!

Loras AD is also a female - Denise Udelhofen

Three out of nine ADs - good to see.
