UD has wrapped it up?  If WB wins out, and UD loses to Coe and Central, WB gets the automatic bid I think.  Perhaps not likely, but certainly possible.

Ed

Very possible. Either way, sure looks like the conference won't have a strong rep again. Until the IIAC can string together a few years of playoff wins, we'll continue to get just get the one rep.

Dubuque Telegraph-Herald article on the Dubuque/Loras game...

http://www.thonline.com/sports/local_sports/article_6c2bf218-198e-5df5-9999-276151648dd9.html

From the article...

In one of the most anticipated UD-Loras football matchups in years, the Spartans pounded the Duhawks, 42-7, Saturday at Chalmers Field. Behind the bruising running style of Maurece Herrion and a controlled passing game, UD held the ball for 42 minutes, 57 seconds. The Duhawks' high-octane offense had the ball for 17:03.
Loras (4-4, 3-2) brought the NCAA Division III's No. 1-ranked passing game into Chalmers Field and the Spartans defense grounded it. The Duhawks came into the game averaging 38.9 points per game, 568.6 yards per game and 409 yards passing per game. They walked out of Chalmers Field with seven points, 218 yards and 174 passing yards.
Zweifel said preparations for Coe would begin Saturday night."It's going to be really difficult," Zweifel said. "We have two of the top teams in the league. Coe might be struggling a little bit but they beat this Loras team, so they are a good football team. Central lost a shootout to Loras and another close game to Wartburg, and I think they are as good as anybody in the conference. It is a challenging two games."

Its not a lock for anyone in the IIAC.  Still to face two tough conference foes, if the Spartans do win out, I predict they will face either St. Thomas or Wheaton in the 1st round ... just as they were paired with NCC 4 years ago.  Tough way to start out.  Did the St. John's-Platteville-Pacific non-conference schedule help?  We shall see.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I predict the IIAC finishes with a four way tie for first.  All that has to happen is for Central and Loras to win out, which means Dubuque and Wartburg would pick up loses and Dubuque has to also lose to Coe.  At the beginning of the season the only part of that that would have seemed unreasonable was Wartburg having a chance of losing against Loras and finishing at 6-2 in the conference.  So if all of that shakes out and the weather stays this nice, which, if you ask me, is the least likely of all of this, I may make the trip to Dubuque for the title game.

Our oldest turns 14 on the 14th.  I'll be hanging out at home in a house full of teenagers.  If you want to give in-game updates on here that would be appreciated  ;D

1st Regional rankings of the season are out.

http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2015/first-regional-ranking

From that article, the West rankings are...

1 St. Thomas 8-0 8-0
2 UW-Oshkosh 6-0 7-1
3 Linfield 7-0 7-0
4 UW-Whitewater 4-1 7-1
T5 St. John's 7-1 7-1
T5 Whitworth 7-1 7-1
7 UW-Platteville 6-2 6-2
8 Dubuque 6-2 6-2
9 Wartburg 7-1 7-1
10 St. Norbert 6-0 8-0

St. Thomas' win vs. the fifth-ranked team apparently judged as better than Linfield's win vs. the other fifth-ranked team. If committee deemed this a tie, then Linfield should be No. 1 based on 'last year's playoff performance' tiebreaker. ... Committee seems to not understand that Finlandia is a D-III opponent as neither UWW nor UWO is given credit for them as a D-III win. ... Platteville and St. John's with head-to-head over Dubuque, who has head-to-head over Wartburg.

If I am watching from home you can count on me to provide a fair and unbiased account as the mighty and virtuous heroes of Central fight for truth, justice and the American way against the neerdowell scallywags from Dubuque.

Dutch win 38-23.  500+ yards for the Dutch.  Pass defense VERY shaky in the first half, but run game took over in the 2nd half and allowed the Dutch to dominate.  The Dutch pick up their 6th win which makes 54 of 55 seasons with a winning season and the 55th year of a .500 record or better.  Well done Dutch!
