Last year our high school had 4 football players go on to college ball.  All 4 went to Wartburg.

This year 3 have announced plans to play football in college. 1 to Mankato St and 1 to Ellsworth CC...both linemen.  1 to Dubuque...a WR/DB

Time will tell if any of these kids will make an eventual impact on their teams.  If they pay attention to their studies they should all go on to productive lives.

That is all the news I have.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Here is Central's schedule for 2016
Date   Opponent   Location   Time/Results   Live!
Sept. 3   Whitworth (Wash.)   Spokane, Wash.   1 p.m.
Sept. 10   Augustana (Ill.)   Rock Island, Ill.   1 p.m.
Sept. 17   Buena Vista   Pella   1 p.m.
Sept. 24   Loras   Dubuque   1 p.m.
Oct. 1   Dubuque   Pella   1 p.m.
Oct. 8   Coe   Cedar Rapids   1 p.m.
Oct. 15   Nebraska Wesleyan   Lincoln, Neb.   1 p.m.
Oct. 22   Wartburg   Pella   1 p.m.
Nov. 5   Simpson   Pella   1 p.m.
Nov. 12   Luther   Decorah   1 p.m.

I always like to see new names so I am happy to see Whitworth on the schedule.  I'm pretty sure Auggie just about rebuilt their football facility since the last time I was there so I may have to check that out.  If I was going to complain, and I always have to complain, it would be about scheduling the northernmost opponent for the last game of the season.

3rd IIAC school so far that is playing 2 non-con away games.  Not optimal this year, but next year could be nice.

Heading north to play the Norse late in the season.  Which is preferable...mud bowl or snow on the ground?

Hopefully home and home agreements (Augustana has been in the past).  I would have to think 2 years in a row of 4 home games was born out of necessity.

Who can tell us (d-dog?) ... when was the last time UD won both the football and basketball conference titles in the same academic year?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

The 40-41 academic year.

The 40's were a strong decade at UD.  Football titles in 40, 42, 48  and basketball titles in 41, 44, 47, 48.

Hopefully the success UD is seeing this year continues for the foreseeable future  ;)

Was the AD at Valley City State, an NAIA school in North Dakota.  Before that he was at Ellsworth.  He is also a 1990 Wartburg grad!
