Hansen Preseason Ratings.  Not that they truly mean anything, they say themselves "Current ratings do not include adjustments for returning starters, and some schedules are incomplete. Ratings and predictions will update when new information becomes available."  Plus, I would guess Nebraska Wesleyan is ranked so low because they don't have a database of d3 opponents for comparison.

I went to read my e-mails this morning and there in the wall paper was an ad telling my I should click here to learn why I should visit Simpson College.  I guess that is the high price I pay for free e-mail.

Whew, no mention the conference might change names.  I want the IIAC name and past titles over the prior 90+ years to remain the same.

Possible story lines for next year...

Buena Vista
Typically an even/steven type team, plummets to 0-7 in conference play last year.  Was 2015 a blip on the radar or a sign of things to come?

Central
The Dutch haven't won a conference title since 2009.  Will bringing in a new DC be what it takes to make them an elite team once again?

Coe
Coe has gone 11-10 in conference play the last 3 years.  The 3 years prior to that they had gone 20-3 in conference play with 1 conference title.  Will the departure of Staker and the promotion of his son to take over as HC be a recipe for success?  Or will this be more of the same from the prior 3 years?

Dubuque
Obviously, as anyone with a clear head can see, UD is the class of the field and may not lose another conference game for the next decade or so

Loras
Loras found themselves an offense last year.  Any hope they can find a defense to go with it?

Luther
Two straight 2-5 conference seasons.  Will this be the year the Norse and their triple option move up the ranks in the IIAC?

Nebraska Wesleyan
From what I gather, NWU seems to be a .500 type team.  Makes everybody work hard, and can get wins over some good teams from time to time, but never seem to challenge for conference titles.

Simpson
Simpson brings in a new head coach that is an alum and Des Moines native.  Can he bring in some recruits out of typical Central territory?  Can he bring back the glory days of the 90's?  Will the Storm stay a .500 type team?

Wartburg
1st 75 years of the IIAC the Knights were a run of the mill football school.  Over the past 18 years their football program has turned into IIAC royalty.  Do we expect more of the same in Waverly as long as Willis is in charge?

Anything else anyone out there can add???

I think the conference should look to Crosby, Stills, and Nash when they incorporated Neil Young into the group for inspiration.

IIAC&N
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Actually Centrals DC is going to be very hard to replace,  more like can the new DC retain the edge on the defensive side? (4 of the last 5 yrs Dutch #1 or 2 in BOTH scoring D and Total D)  We're looking for more of an impact from year 2 of the new OC and some very good recruiting classes of late to be coming of age.  Their Hansen's rankings will be at least 20 higher at the end of the year (Rose colored glasses!)

By the way, all this bird droppings from "#LorasElite" is just unnecessary static, unbecoming of a DIII school, so is "signing days".  Really?  Get over yourself!   There, just showed my age.

Can't be much longer before d3.Football supplants b-ball in the order of listing on the  D3boards page.  And once baseball is done, D3boards takes its rightful place at the top of the listing and the countdown to that first kick off begins.  For the UD Spartans, that is 9/3.

A lot of the IIAC schools will tweet vague statements saying an impact player from IL, or a game changer from the 515, or an all stater from the corridor, has committed to their school.  Always vague with no specifics.  There was one today I saw where the coach actually showed the logo of the high school this kid is coming from.  Is that within the rules?  And is it a good idea to refer to your school as the 'dark side'?

Yes it is all legal. That is as far as they can go. As for the Dark Side, Coe has been referring to its defense as the Dark Side for the last 15-20 years.

Yikes, I guess that shows how little I pay attention  ;)

It's always fun to guess at how recruiting is going for all the schools in the conference.  Try to guess what is hype and what is legit.  Sounds like Coe is having quite a bit of success in Cali and the corridor.  Young coaching staff seems to be excited for the task ahead of them.  NWU sounds like they are happy with their recruits.  Luther as well.  Loras seems to be getting recruits from a 50 mile radius of Dubuque and the Chicagoland area.  Dubuque from 50 miles on each side of the Mississippi, Chicagoland, and Wisconsin...sprinkle in some TX, AZ, FL and other parts.   Every schools recruits 'sound' like difference makers.  Always fun to see how things play out over the course of the coming year.
