Pretty unremarkable victory for the Dutch, but 33-0 with a few minutes to go feels pretty good. A safety taken off the board as a Cocky Beaver taunted after running a blocked PAT back. Down 33-0 is no time to taunt.  Win and lose with class!  Go Dutch!

About what we expected...
Central beat BVU 33-0
Coe beat Loras 45-10
Dubuque beat Simpson 41-20
Wartburg beat NWU 38-28

BVU is bad
Central is back
Coe appears strong
Dubuque looks tough
Loras offense has been lost
Luther ??
NWU better than some thought they would be?
Simpson maybe an Even Steven?
Wartburg ...something missing???

Congratulations to the Dutch on a well played 60 minutes of football.  BV had some opportunities to score early and could not do it.  BV had the first two point conversion I have actually seen scored by the defense, except for the obvious taunt before he crossed the goal line to preserve the shutout.  So I guess I have yet to technically see a defensive team score a 2 point conversion.  As you say DrDutch, you don't taunt either way, but certainly not when on the losing side of the shutout.  I imagine that player did his best to avoid the coach for as long as he could.   ;D  But hey, it was a learning experience for me, I didn't know that the taunting penalty was assessed from the point of infraction.  So the lesson learned is if you are going to be a disrespectful idiot, wait until after you cross the goal line to show the world.

Then again, dumb moves are not limited to the college level, I understand a certain Pella Christian QB got thrown out of the game last night in the first quarter.  Kind of hard to avoid the coach when he's your dad.   ::)  Learning experiences take place all the time.

Have to say that given the games the past few years in the Iowa conference, I was really impressed to see Central pitch a shutout today.  In Skip's day of 10-0 games, it was not unusual, but with even losing teams regularly scoring 20 or more points these days with all the passing and the faster pace of the game, that is quite an accomplishment.

Will the rebroadcast be censored?

An opportunity to talk about a Cocky Beaver mustn't be wasted.  :)

What's missing seems to be 31 seniors from last year.
After the shocking start, it appears a few leaders might have stepped up.
38 unanswered points.
The Knights will be OK
The Prairie Wolves will be better than I expected.  Dubuque, Coe, and Central will beat them, but the others might have some problems.
NWU players, parents, staff, alumni, and fans are some of the nicest people I've ever met at an IIAC game.
A former Wartburg administrator is the NWU Dean of Students.
The wrestling coach at NWU brought in 30 grapplers for their inaugural season.
Parking is an issue at NWU. Like Coe space is a premium in a bigger city.

Hey guys,

I'm a huge D3 football fan (Loras-alum and former football team manager), and since the start of the season, I've been spending my entire Saturday afternoons putting together "Iowa College Football Round-Ups" for Around Iowa, the website I write for. I recap each game for all D1, D2, D3, and NAIA teams from Iowa, and do a weekly ranking of the top-25 teams in the state. I thought you guys might find it interesting. At the very least, it's a platform you can use to find all the box scores in one place. Hopefully you'll find it useful!

This is my latest one: https://www.aroundiowa.com/blog/2016/09/college-football-round-up-this-is-what-iowa-gets-for-scheduling-fcs-opponents/. Let me know what you think of my top-25. (It's probably wrong, I don't know too much about the NAIA.)

And yeah, the Loras offense looks miserable. I think Nate Even's graduation was a bigger blow than they imagined it'd be. Doesn't help that their next-best receiver, Josh Schulte, went down for the season with a collar bone. The running game looks fine, but I doubt we're going to see another 700+ yard explosion this season. They're moving the ball OK, they just need to limit turnovers. They would've won their first two games of the season if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. (Two pick-sixes against Elmhurst in Week 1, lost 28-27; Four turnovers in Aurora territory in Week 2, lost 14-9.) Their defense looks improved, but that Coe game was rough.

Welcome to the board.  Bring more with you.

I think I linked one of your articles a few weeks back on here.

Not an Iowa guy but kudos, that's pretty cool.  The only thing I'm wondering is if there are only 25 teams in Iowa.  I thought that must be case when I saw Grinnell ranked.
