Coe beats UD. 23-12
Heitland for Coe is a stud. Lots of yards after first contact.
Coe defense is strong. Held a strong UD offense to 219 total yards

I would also guess TOP helps that D considerably.  Impressive win for da Kowaks. Dutch took care of business and now it's Wartburg week. Way to go Dutch.

Congratulations to today's winners.  Looks like Coe has cleared the top half of the conference and now just needs to not stub their toe on a should win game.  Nice win for the Dutch today in Lincoln.  Central got the chance to improve the TO ratio for a change getting 4 picks in the 4th quarter.  Congratulations to Markham for another receptions record broken today.  I think this one was career receptions and if he decides to play his 4th year he could put that WAY out of reach for quite some time.  Riley had a great day at QB at one point completing 15 straight passes.

Way to go Dutch!  Nice win to get us in shape for WB.  I was thinking we had UD, Coe and WB all in a row.  My bad, but glad to have the break.  Dutch seniors need to get a win against WB before their careers end.  Go Dutch!

Congrats to all the winners!  NWU is a great addition to the IIAC. Quality fans, great broadcast and class act all the way around. Welcome to the Iowa Conference and best of luck to the Prairie Wolves from here on out!  As I look back at Central's losses, I have to quote my favorite Coach--"if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas!"  So close of a year for the Dutch and an "of" here or a "but" there and this week would be championship week for Central. Good luck to Coe and just keep winning as you represent the IIAC!

I thought the Dubuque broadcast was very good.

;D
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

A couple thoughts.

I should have seen this Coe win coming...Dubuque won the conference title in 2011, and then went 4-3, 4-3, 3-4 in conference play before winning the conference title last season.  Coe won the conference title in 2012, and then went 4-3, 4-3, 3-4 in conference play and now looks certain to win the conference title this year.  Simple logic, I should have seen this  ;)

Like DBQ1965 noting that UD loses homecoming games he sees in person.  I have witnessed homecoming losses in 2009, 2011, 2012...a win in 2014, and a loss in 2016.  The Spartans had homecoming wins in 2010, 2013, and 2015 when we stayed home.  I think this might be a game I start skipping the next few years.  Yes, I am stupidly superstitious like that  ;D

I won't go to the Stagg Bowl because we lost both of the ones I attended.  Also I've been wearing the same WARHAWKS shirt for every game since it was given to me in 2005.  What's worse is I'll only wash it if we lose or at the end of the season.

I once bought a black Packers t-shirt.  I don't know what possessed me to go black but I liked the design.  Anyway I wore it for first time when we played the Colts who had won one game all season.  They kicked the hell out of us. So when the game ended I took the shirt and a can of gasoline out to fire pit and sent that shirt to hell.

Yes, I am that stupidly superstitious.  lol

Yeah, if you're going to get arrested, drunken brawl at a football game is lame, compared to the drunk Wartburg student that broke in to the McDonalds and cooked himself a burger and fried up some French fries.  Also, not quite as upsetting as that time the Knights starting QB was caught yelling homophobic slurs at another student, then having the administration take a month to 'investigate' and then give him a 1 game suspension just in time for their game against conference door mat Cornell.

But yes, the incident this past weekend reflected poorly on UD.  You hate to see that and hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon.

I should learn not to post late at night  ;D

I could have replied...
"not as upsetting as the result on the field"
or...
"They didn't get my good side in that mug shot"
or...
"Wartburg fans know about upsetting incidents at UD...like last years UD/Wartburg result"

Yeah, I need thicker skin...especially late at night when I get on here!

Hey! The Hamburglar had nothing to do with the football team (but that kid did play scout team his freshman year)

Coe sort of ruined any suspense for the Pool A bid going forward, and I'm pretty upset about it. Since they now hold the tie-breaker over the other three "Big 4," they would have to lose at least two of their remaining three games to lose the Pool A bid. The most likely way for them to lose the bid would be finishing 8-2, with Wartburg of UD running the table to finish with one conference loss.
The only other possible scenario would be a 3-way tie at 6-2 in the conference with Central and Buena Vista (Central has already beaten BVU, Coe has beaten Central, and BVU would need to beat Coe & win out). Coe has earned the Pool A bid more recently than both BVU and Central, so either of those teams would go before Coe.

Their odds of going undefeated: 73.3%
Odds of going 10-0 or 9-1: 97.5%
Dubuque or Wartburg odds of winning out: 45.7%
Odds of Coe losing 2 AND UD or WC winning out: 1.2%
Odds of Central and BVU winning out: 0.8%
Odds of WC & UD finishing 5-3 or worse in-conf: 8.6%
Odds of 3-Way Tie w/ Central, BVU, & Coe: 0.017%
Coe Pool A Odds: 98.8%

Here's how my model projects the rest of the race to play out:

Team   W-L   Projection
Coe   7-0 (5-0)   9.7-0.3 (7.7-0.3)
Dubuque   6-1 (4-1)   8.2-1.8 (6.2-1.8)
Central   5-2 (3-2)   7.4-2.6 (5.4-2.6)
Wartburg   4-2 (3-1)   6.4-3.6 (5.4-2.6)
Buena Vista   2-4 (2-2)   3.2-6.8 (3.2-4.8)
Simpson   2-4 (1-3)   3.7-6.3 (2.7-5.3)
Nebraska Wesleyan   2-5 (1-4)   3.0-7.0 (2.0-6.0)
Loras   0-6 (0-4)   1.7-8.3 (1.7-6.3)
Luther   2-4 (1-3)   2.6-7.4 (1.6-6.4)

Comments on prior posts:  I only listened to the Central NWU game, so can't comment on their video, but I will say UD has amazing video, replays, fan shots.  They put the rest of us to shame.

College kids have a good level of intelligence, but depending on the kids, adding alcohol can increase stupid at warp speed.

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot all about the timely discipline of the WB player's racial slurs.  Pretty obvious as I recall.  But I probably shouldn't mention it since it isn't about my team.  Would hate to upset anyone.

Which coaches are having their roof shingled this summer?  Any ideas?

Doolittle, you aren't the only one with bad homecoming memories this year.  Some team screwed up Central's HC this year too.

Where did all the posters go?  No posts during football season, apparently everyone is disappointed with Coe leading the conference.   Kidding, but where is everyone?  DD must really be in mourning.  He can carry on conversations with himself about stats for days at a time.   :)

There was a full moon this week, what could it lead to?  Central over Wartburg by 50?  Norse shoot down the Kohawks by playing naked and Coe not wanting to tackle them?  Spartans win by 100 because they hear about the Norse and decide to get some Beaver?  Loras and Simpson game goes on until the next full moon because neither team can deliver the knock out punch?

Nah, just bored.  That will end this afternoon.  Go Dutch!
