Klompen, it looks weird to see the "Dutch" with green uniforms  ;)

I didn't watch, but followed on twitter of some that were at the game.  They thought the game had already been won by Xavier.  How's that saying go about counting chickens?

Today we watched the Union of La Porte City girls volleyball lose in the state title game to Dike-New Hartford.  Tomorrow night we will will be tailgating from our house and watching on TV the Union of La Porte City football team play in the state semi-finals against Mt. Vernon.  Hopeful for a victory for our local kids.  I don't think I will need to worry about flipping over to the Hawkeye game...that one will be over early I am afraid.

Of course at noon tomorrow I will have multiple IIAC games up on my computer.  The IIAC really is my favorite form of football to keep track of.
Well, many moons ago it was junior Dutch for junior high, Little Dutch for Pella High and Flying Dutch for Central, with Pella Christian completely out of the loop as Eagles.  Now Pella High and Central are both just the Dutch.  I can handle seeing the Dutch in Green uniforms,  but if they are playing a team with red and white, I can get confused.   :)

Some of the Pella players thought it was over too, with the few not on the field sitting on the bench with tears in their eyes.

As to volleyball, Pella Girls won the Class 4A semi-final and cheered on the football team from their hotel room in Cedar Rapds as they had to play the next day at noon.  Sadly they were swept and finished second.  I think this group of senior girls has finished second in state in 4 sports now, but they could never get over the hump to number 1.  One of the volleyball girls has a brother starting offense and defense on the football team.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

There will be a 'predominantly Dutch' team playing for the title in three classes
1A: Western Christian (basically 100% Dutch, CRC mafia style)
2A: Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley
3A: Pella

Two won convincingly in the semi's and the other is on a really nice run the last several years. Decent chance of a Dutch sweep.

Northwestern and Central should be recruiting these schools (and Pella Christian) hard. Interestingly, all 4 of those schools have HC's who are Central (Pella Christian) and Northwestern (Western, BHRV, Pella) Alumni

Would love a home game next weekend.

I hope you're right, I see d3football is projecting home vs Wash U. I don't think we can assume anything.  There are so many strong teams in the West (again) that even an IIAC 10-0 Conference champ may end up traveling to someone like St. John's who can probably assume a stronger SOS, haven't looked that up.

Congrats to Coe on their fine run this year.
61 consecutive seasons without a losing season
IIAC/ARC champs 39, 45, 46, 56, 64, 65, 66, 67, 74, 77, 78, 81, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 92, 94, 95, 98, 00, 01, 02, 05, 06, 07, 09, 19, 21
NCAA Playoffs 74, 77, 78, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 92, 94, 95, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 05, 06, 07, 09, 19, 21

I have other things to do, but since I brought it up,  IIAC SOS ranks:

32 BV          .547
39 Warty     .540
50 NWU      .535
71 Central   .520
72 Loras      .520
97 Coe        .511
103 DBQ     .507
109 Simp    .505
148 Lut       .488

Other notables projected in the pool C playoff picks:
St. Johns .521
Mount Union .490

Do we think MU will get a road game, no and if not does St. J. get a home game over Coe?

A look at each conference playoff records from playoff expansion in 1999 through the quarterfinals of the 2015 playoffs:

Conference   W   L   Pct.
WIAC    55   15   .786
OAC    78   22   .780
MIAC 45   25   .643
NWC    34   19   .642
ASC    33   24   .579
NJAC    28   23   .549
Ind.    15   12   .556
NCAC 22   20   .524
MAC    22   19   .537
CCIW    28   25   .528
E8    20   18   .526
SCAC    11   15   .423
PAC    13   19   .406
LL/UCAA   13   20   .394
IIAC    14   23   .378

Don't know how deeply they consider conference strength, but you know its on the board.  Just my way of saying all our schools need to continue to schedule top conferences for non-con games and get some playoff wins each yr to give us a better chance of pool C bids.

So, Coe gets to play at home but with a challenging draw in Monmouth.  Common opponent being Wartburg who lost by a bigger margin to Monmouth than to Coe.  However Warty was young and that was a first game of the season after Monmouth had played one, so don't count on that meaning anything.  Good Luck to the KoHawks.  Not an easy run with a potential IIAC/MIAC champions matchup in round 2.  Biggest disappointment in this bracket is we very easily could see MU and UWW in the Championship game.  I like it better when D3 had them meat up in the quarters.

We've never met Mount in the quarters.  Up until last year it was always the Stagg Bowl.  Last year we met in the semifinals.

Another common opponent is Cornell.
Coe won @ Cornell 63-6 2nd week of the season
Monmouth got a home win over Cornell 57-14 week 5.

This should be a good matchup.
