Wash U and the IIAC are a nice fit next year. The IIAC has those midseason bye weeks because of the odd number of teams and Wash U is an independent in 2017 only, with many dates to fill.

Is IIAC courting Wash. U?

Wash U joins the CCIW (football only) starting in 2018.  So you get them for a lot of dates in 2017, but will have to look elsewhere after that.

That story on Joe's Knighthawk bar.

I can picture 5WOL putting on Wartburg gear when meeting the owners in an attempt to buy the place  ;D

Some of the alums interviewed in that article mentioned their love of Joe's back in the 80's and earlier.  Back in those days, your only source for on-campus food for a student was the school cafeteria that served meals 3 times per day.  Now most campuses have places all over campus to get food, most any time of the day.  There would be less motivation for students to head over to Joe's these days compared to the 80's.  Unless, of course, the Sommer twins are at the Knighthawk  ;)

I could be wrong (because I was counting on my fingers) but I believe it's 30 more Saturdays until IIAC football is back!
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

5WOL dressed as a knight, his banker and some guy with 30 fingers walk into a bar ...

Luther buys Joe's Night Hawk  ;)

Check the date of the story. The deal had fallen through by rasslin' season. Don't know why but with the Fainting Goat closing about that time maybe Joe wanted to keep his golden egg goose.
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Atwater retires as DC at Coe.  27 years as a coach at Coe, will remain there as a professor.

The Goat is closing? I hadn't heard that.

I also think it's funny for the current students to talk so fondly of Joe's as a "gathering place." More like, "I really liked getting sloppy drunk and really sweaty there on Saturday nights."

If AEN or Outsidethecrate or maybe someone else on here are involved with Knight Vision, thank you.  Our daughter was in the Meistersinger Honor Band Festival today.  With the Super Bowl being a blow out, I am now watching her performance.  Even getting some close ups of her with the multiple cameras.  While being in the crowd this afternoon was nice, you get a much better experience watching it!  Thanks again.

Just posted my Pre-preseason Ratings (I'm calling them that until I get returning starter info from Kickoff '17)

Top 4 IIAC teams are all between 23 (Coe) & 32 (Wartburg). That's a difference roughly equivalent to HFA, so Wartburg & Coe in Waverly would be a toss-up in the model. Loras brings up the rear at 166.

If there's interest in some more accurate predictions for the IIAC specifically, I would probably be willing to go through the rosters to enter returning starter info manually (or some of y'all could go through the rosters and let me know how many returning starters your team has ;) )

I'll look up Dubuque for you.  Though I don't think they will update their roster until spring ball...and maybe not even until summer.  Question - do you just take the number of starters returning? or do you weight it with all-conference players vs. starters that got no conference recognition?

Starters only. My original plan a couple years ago was to weight based on all-conference/all-american, but discovered pretty quickly that the number of all-conference slots varies pretty wildly from conference to conference. I would use returning production, based on official NCAA stats, but a lot of teams are pretty lackadaisical about reporting that stuff. The numbers from Kickoff are easily the most accurate/least biased I've been able to find.

Here's the conference record predictions right now:

COE    6.2-1.8
CEN    6.1-1.9
DBQ    5.8-2.2
WAR    5.8-2.2
SIM    2.7-4.3
NWU    2.2-4.8
BVU    2.5-5.5
LUT    2.3-5.7
LOR    1.3-6.7

There's essentially three tiers: Contenders, Also-ran's, and Loras.
