I guess it's that time of year, and the board has been pretty quiet this year so maybe something to start the discussion...
Possible Playoff matchups for Wartburg.  Here are the teams within the 500 mile distance limit, and since the committee has gone away from traditional "Regional" Brackets in the last few years, i will disregard which Region the teams are currently in.

AQ, Possible Pool C, Clinches AQ in week 11

St. Thomas (203 miles)
Monmouth College (206 miles)
Eureka College (269 miles)
St. John's (278 miles)
Illionis Wesleyan (291 miles)
UW-Oshkosh (294 miles)
North Central (295 miles)
Lakeland College (317 miles)
St Norbert College (338 miles)
Concordia Morehead (433 miles)
Trine University (475 miles)
Franklin College (486 miles)

And with George Fox and UW-Platteville losing yesterday, I think it's a safe bet that the committee will do 2 things.  First, use the 1 flight budgeted for the first round to send someone to play Linfield.  And second, break up the west region, as there are probably not a full 8 playoff teams in the region.

Should Wartburg finish undefeated, these are the most likely matchups for Wartburg if I look at the regional rankings as of today.
Monmouth/St Norbert Winner
Eureka
Lakeland
Illionlis Wesleyan, St John's, Concordia
Franklin

I just hope that the committee will not send the CCIW or MIAC runner-up to Wartburg in the first round, as I think it would be wildly unfair for teams that highly ranked in the region to run into each other in the first round.

Please discuss, and maybe Hansenratings can crunch some numbers and give us a clue as to the possible regional rankings for the end of the year with SOS factored in.

Good analysis.  I bet Hansenratings is hard at work on this as we speak.  Wartburg needs to take care of business this weekend, and then I hope they make a run.  Always a fan of whoever represents the IIAC in the playoffs.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

I also have some sad news to share.  Phred from this board...aka OldNorse, passed away last week.

My family met him a few years ago (along with 5WOL).  He had a number of careers over the years and was most recently a pastor in MN before retiring and returning to the Decorah area.  That move brought him closer to family and the ability to follow his Norse in person.  Watching Phred and 5WOL interact brought back many memories of my dad and I going to football/basketball games over the years.  Sports can be a great way to bridge generations and bring them closer together, I know it was for them, just like it was with my dad.

I'll miss not being able to have another football and IIAC history talk with him, but appreciate getting to know him and his family.  He was a good one.

Condolences to the Dotseth family. Our son was a four-year punter at Wartburg and we had the privilege of getting to know Mike and Janet well. Her smile and loving heart will be missed.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. Of course, being an Ohio person, I didn't know him.
there is probably nothing as great (can't think of a better word) as someone who has been in our life and has left us with fond memories. That person will always be with us.
Take care and best to you!
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

The 2017 Kohack Misery tour continues, 1-6 in IIAC play...hard to not not break out into howls of derisive laughter.  Any talk of them going back to the MWC yet?   ;D

Your beloved Rams lost to these "Kohacks" 59-21 during a down year for Coe.  You do realize this right?

Finally!  We have a Kohack landing!  I wondered how much more it would take...   8-)

Since the Rams high-tailed it back to the MWC, I forgot they even played the 'hacks anymore.

It's a pity because the annual fleecing has become even more hollow.  I think the only satisfaction Cornell can derive from it is the negative impact it will inflict on Coe's SoS.   ;D
