Dubuque DB Michael Joseph has been picked to play in the Senior Bowl.

According to this tweet... https://twitter.com/1370KDTHSPORTS/status/928667743380963329 The only previous IIAC player invited to play in the Senior Bowl was Luther's Brad Hustad in 1960.

I'm anxious to see how he stacks up against the D1 players at that game.  Joseph had 0 starts in high school and something like 9 total tackles as a high school player.  Sounds similar to the Freddie Jackson story at Coe.  Hopefully he can have a Freddie Jackson sort of career.  Always nice to see a D3 student make it on the big stage.

The 2017 Kohack Misery tour continues, 1-6 in IIAC play...hard to not not break out into howls of derisive laughter.  Any talk of them going back to the MWC yet?   ;D

Your beloved Rams lost to these "Kohacks" 59-21 during a down year for Coe.  You do realize this right?

Finally!  We have a Kohack landing!  I wondered how much more it would take...   8-)

Since the Rams high-tailed it back to the MWC, I forgot they even played the 'hacks anymore.

So the main purpose of your post was to troll a Kohawk to tell you how terrible Cornell is?  Glad I could oblige.  ;D

That's one way of looking at it...  ;)

Good luck to all the teams today and all the IIAC seniors, other than Wartburg, playing their last game.  Stay healthy and give it your best to make it memorable.  Best of luck to the Dutch, finsih strong and clinch sole possession of 2nd place.  We have a lot to build on with the younger players.  I'm looking forward to another exciting 3 years with Hawkins at QB.  Hope the rain holds off in Pella until after the game is over.

Best of luck to the Pella Christian Eagles today and Coach Kac as they make their first dome appearance in school history.  Good luck also to the Pella Dutch as they face a revenge minded Xavier in the championship game Thursday night.  The Dutch built an early 35-0 lead Thursday and had to hold on for dear life against a senior dominated Harlan team to eek out a 41-39 win.  Many Dutch players start offense and defense and the time on the field was showing Thursday night.  Nice to have the only two high school teams in town both representing Pella at the UNI Dome this year.

Condolences to the Wartburg football family on their loss, it sounds like Julie was a wonderful person.

Condolences also to Phred's family.  I always enjoyed his posts, he will be missed.

We did the Foo Fighters concert in Des Moines Friday night with the intent of making the UD/Central game Saturday. With a forecast of 32 degrees and rain, mrs Doolittle has suggested a day shopping and dining is the better option. I'll rely on you guys/gals and d3football to keep me updated throughout the day.

Outside the Crate

Wartburg achieves a perfect season at 10-0, including a 36-13 season-opening win over Monmouth, who today also won their conference title.  Wartburg seems to be a second half team, after being down 13-7 at half-time.  As usual, Coach Willis' pep  talk -- or something else -- spurred the Knights to a 34-7 advantage in the second half.  I was impressed by NWU's quarterback, Jonathan Curti.  He's really impressive and only a sophomore.  It was "senior day" at Wartburg, and I think 24 seniors were introduced with their parents.  A large and impressive group of young men.  37-6 record over these four years, so far.

Doolittle, sorry you and your wife didn't make it down to Pella for the game.  I looked to see if you were going to be there, but didn't see anything when I posted.  The rain held off.  Part way into the first quarter I shed my coat, by the end of the game, I was really cold.  Such is life in Iowa I guess.  Your team had some nice drives, but didn't play with the consistency or intensity I have seen from UD in recent years.  Then again, I haven't seen that from Central in recent years either.  Lots of seniors on the team who will all be missed.  This team seemed to have playing together as a team down and I believe they got better as the season progressed.  The team at the end of the year, would never have lost that game to BV.  The way the season started, I am proud that the Dutch finished in second place.  Fill the holes left by graduation, Sam Markham's will be a huge one, and reload for next year.

Congratulations seniors, thanks for four enjoyable years!

Today was not a good day for the teams I follow.  UD lost this afternoon, the Hawkeyes lost this evening, our high school lost in the state semi-finals tonight.  But the sun will come up tomorrow.

Sorry for the UD seniors to go out with a loss, they have been a big reason for the recent success of the program.  They will do well now in their adult lives.
