ok, my annual Simpson jokes:

Why do Simpson football players always go to the movies in groups of 18?  Because 17 and under are not admitted to R rated movies.

Advice to Simpson players:  Do not brag to Indianola residents that your car tag is personalized just because your father made it.

You better be careful Old Dutch. A Simpson fan might come back at you with something like;

Two Central fans looking up at a full moon on a beautiful fall night.......

Central fan #1—-"Its so beautiful. Gee #2, what do you think is further away, the moon or California"?
Central fan #2—-"Well duh, #1. Can you see California from here"?  ;)

Central has been on the same track for years. Either two trips to Dubuque or none. I really wish they would make it one trip a year for everyone. It's a nice enough trip, but no need to do it twice a year and from Nebraska only two weeks a part?  Somebody really does like them.

Schipper Strong

If there were any actual Simpson fans on here i would have to stop the Simpson jokes.  I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

Maybe the conference told NWU they could choose.

1 trip to Dubuque per year and we keep the IIAC name.
2 trips to Dubuque per year, but we'll change the name of the conference to something you like.

;D ;D ;D
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

You mean someone really exists that actually likes the name American Rivers?  ???

Why did the Simpson quarterback put a can of frozen orange juice on the playbook for the Central game?  The coach told him to concentrate on it.

Okay, a one sided joke fest is wearing thin. Time to get down to business. I looked at conference team and individual stats last night. It looks like Central leads most stats over Simpson, but that could be biased to Central because our schedule was more favorable. Plus Simpson always seems to play well against Central. The Dutch will have to be on their game Saturday. They won last year at Simpson and I think they will again Saturday. I just struggle with his close it will be. Simpson beating Wartburg still has me surprised. I am not so surprised that Wartburg lost to someone. I just didn't see it being Simpson.

If you don't want to be alone, you are welcome to join us on the MIAC board and talk trash about the Johnnies.

We've heard a bit about NWU changing from the Plainsmen to the Prairie Wolves.  When did Simpson move to the Storm?  Was it the Redmen before that?  Was it a low key move...or were there a decent chunk of alums upset with the change?

Simpson did change from the Redmen to the Storm. I don't recall the year, but I would guess it was about two decades ago. It almost seems like it was related to some pressure going around at various high schools regarding politically incorrect mascot names. Indianola High School stayed with the Indians, but the more derogatory Redmen was changed. I actually thought it was a good change in some ways.  Storm to hit Pella sounded kind of ominous, but then again Simpson blows.  ;D They are just a slight breeze, a light sprinkle like when they tinkle, a lot of hot air, a flash of lightning then nothing...

And here I thought I was done with Simpson jokes.

BLynn

Simpson President Jerry Israel, who over saw the change to Red Storm, later became Morningside's President and over saw their change from Chiefs to Mustangs in about 1998.  PC President p.o.'d a LOT of alumni at M.C., probably at both schools.

Was he also in charge of the Morningside switch from D2 to NAIA?

I know about that time there was a push from some IIAC schools to ditch UD, WP, and UIU saying they weren't up to standards and were hoping to lure Morningside to D3 and the IIAC.

Loras unveils new "Visual Identity"

https://duhawks.com/news/2018/10/11/loras-athletics-unveils-new-visual-identity.aspx

Kind of looks like the Hawkeye logo had a baby with the Kohawk logo

They want you to go out and buy their new gear.

So that they can pay to repair their crumbling campus.

The new look is nice, but since I never knew what a Duhawk looked like anyway...

Two or three years ago there was a big unveiling of the Central Dutch mascot. It was big and ugly and obviously NOTHING like a Dutch anything.  It has rarely been seen, or I simply refuse to acknowledge its existence. What a waste of money that was. Word was they didn't want to make it look like a real Dutch person as that would be exclusive of other cultures.  Hello, the team is the Dutch!  Kind of lends itself to one culture wouldn't you think?  Of course the town has been known to have a Dutch costume or 3000 around. Can't you just dress some willing student up in one regardless of their culture/race?

Schipper Strong

Good luck to all the teams today and stay healthy. Great day for a Central victory. Dutch just need to take care of the ball today as Simpson seems to take advantage of mistakes. Time to pad Jordy Borman's interception numbers to boost him back into first place.  Go Dutch!

We are en route to Kansas City so keep the board updated with scores please. I'll be checking the d3football scoreboard but sometimes the iiac page is a bit behind real time.
