Wow, that is impressive.

NICE! Indoor field turf, what coach would not love to have that.

Pat ... I thought I would miss the Around The Region columns, but I like the new approach with the daily special stories.  Thanks for your willingness to do something new. :D

Thanks, I appreciate it. I do miss being able to provide some of the nuts-and-bolts stuff the regional columnists provided, but it was a good time to try a different approach.

Good luck and stay healthy to all the teams playing tomorrow. Go Dutch beat the Knights!

Knights2013

Going to stir the pot a bit this morning...this was easily my favorite game to play in during college - tough, physical styles of football clashing is always fun. Whoever can make a play or execute on special teams in these gusty conditions today has a great chance of winning. (And, as long as there are no phantom holding calls as a receiver walks into the end zone, ala 2012 4th quarter at Central...sorry, still salty).

IF Wartburg executes on special teams (see loss to Simpson)...Knights can win handily. Top scoring O, top scoring D in the conference. (And JoJo McNair is now out at receiver, potentially one of the best athletes in the conference (3 TD's in first game at WR against Coe last weekend). Throw in the fact Matt Sacia is by far, the top QB in the conference (statistically Central QB has a few more yards, but Matt is having a phenomenal year with all new skill players on offense), and to top it all off, a home game for the Knights, love the chances.

One thing that will likely be a factor is that it is really windy in the area today...FG kicking/punting could be dicey, and downfield throws could be tricky. Thinking it through, it feels like this is going to be a Wartburg victory, although a close game somewhere in the 31-21/35-28, in a gusty slugfest at Walston-Hoover Stadium.

Go Knights!

In this wind, it might not matter who has the better QB in Waverly today.  It might come down to the running game.  I'll be watching from the comfort of my living room today!

From a selfish standpoint, I'm hoping for a Wartburg victory.  If Central wins, the conference race is as good as over.  A Wartburg win today and we will have mess that I don't think would clear up until the final week is over.

I don't think wind will be a factor-it's only blowing from the n/nw @ 25-30, with gusts to 45. With the field pretty much n/s it is going to be real interesting advancing the ball heading north. Knights haven't run the ball as consistently as prior years, but will continue to work @ it. Breaking in newbies because of injuries/non return of AC back isn't easy, but the Knights usually do a pretty good job. I expect the Knights to be able to grind on the ground & hopefully the D won't give up the big play.

Just watching the Iowa game, wind will absolutely be a factor. Kicking game could be very interesting, maybe some more thought going into 4th and short situations today.

26-6 Wartburg at half. This has been all Wartburg. Wind a huge factor for the team driving to the north end zone. Wartburg is still very questionable on the PAT unit.

Knights2013

Wow. Wartburg 47, Central 6 at the end of the 3rd. Lots of injuries on both sides today.
