Quote from: https://247sports.com/Article/Wisconsin-Whitewater-wakeyleaks-offensive-coordinator-playbook-cheating-scandal-128396746/Ironically, the advanced knowledge of Wisconsin-Whitewater's gameplan didn't help Dubuque or La Crosse. Whitewater thrashed Dubuque, 38-6, in the season opener, and beat La Crosse by 23 points in the first conference game of the year a few weeks later.

Quick - send 'em our playbook

I went through the WIAC board and after some initial outrage, the more they looked at the situation it was more of a shoulder shrug.  Coaches come and go from one school to another as well as player transfers.  Information gets out there for coaching staffs to see.  Schools change, or evolve their schemes from season to season.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

If you are gonna cheat in DIII you are worthless. It's like cheating so your JV can win.  You play DIII for the love of the game, period. If you are a coach that cheats in DIII go coach in middle school.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I know what you're saying, but middle school would be the absolute WORST age to 'teach' cheating! :o

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

NCAA adjusts first practice rule

Quote from: NCAA Division III Presidents Council - Management Council (Playing and Practice Seasons Subcommittee)
Football preseason: (1) Establish the first permissible practice date as 23 days before the institution's first regular season contest or 23 days from the Friday following the first contest if scheduled on Thursday; and (2) Require a day off from physical athletically related activity during each week of the preseason following the five-day acclimatization period.  https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/governance/d3/legislation/2019DIIIGov_LegPropQA.pdf

EXAMPLE: Practice season standardized to establish first permissible administrative day on August 13 (two days before first allowed practice) for institutions playing their first contest between September 5th and 7th, 2019.  Beginning of practice shifts one week back for teams not playing their first game until September 14, 2019.

NOTE: Citation revised to include approved amendment.

Outside the Crate

Regarding the "UWW scandal," the stripes of a few coaches are showing.  I'm with those who think recipients behaved in a shameful way...disgusting even.  Think of the stature of someone receiving this information who immediately disclosed it to superiors, the head coach of the team that's the victim, the conference, etc.

On the brighter side, Matt Sacia, the Wartburg quarterback and ARC most valuable has received an NCAA postgraduate scholarship ($ 10,000), which will make a nice dent in his med school costs.  It's always great to see an outstanding player who also achieves at a high level in a very competitive academic endeavor.
