It was great to see members of the 1974 national championship football team at the game today. Central has had a lot of outstanding teams, including this year's, but none of them have been able to accomplish what you did. Good to see several of you back! As a woman I am proud of the 10 team national championships won by women's teams at Central. As a football fan, time to step it up men.

I am excited to see what Central can do against, what I expect is, stiffer competition than they have faced so far.

And How!
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Yes, they outplayed us in every aspect of the game. Learn from it and move on. Central has a great coaching staff, but they did not have the team ready today, nor did they make the needed adjustments. It happens.

Outside the Crate

Wartburg clicking on all cylinders today.  It was clearly the best performance on both sides of the ball all season.  If they can keep playing like this they'll be very hard to beat.  Huge crowd for Homecoming today; I was surprised because the weather was gosh awful -- high winds, some rain, grey.

Big one this weekend with Wartburg at Simpson.  Who wins and why?

Rivalry game with Loras at Dubuque.  Who wins and why?

Coe at NWU and Central at BVU.  Do Coe and Central remain in the hunt for a conference title?

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Good questions. Central will remain in the hunt. Saturday was hard, the Dutch will learn from it and move on. I remember a season when games were really challenging for the Dutch after Vance Schuring was injured and Tim Connell seemed to put the team on his back and lead them to victories in a "find a way" mentality. Will Hawkins and the rest of the Dutch play every game that way? I hope so! Hawkins is poised to significantly break every record set by Connell. I think the Dutch can do it.

Central coaches deserve my apologies for coming down hard on them after the game. They are all hard working and dedicated coaches and will work on the issues and find the answers.

Dubuque will have to avoid a letdown after riding high on Saturday's success. I think they will beat Loras if they are concentrating on this opponent and not their last one.

Simpson and Wartburg should be a good game. I give the edge to Wartburg because they are conference champs until knocked off, but Simpson might just do it.

Coe and NWU should be another good match up. I am not sure on this one either. I was not impressed with Coe early because of the Augustana game, but was that a fluke like Central on Saturday?

Having seen Simpson the last two years and Wartburg in the playoffs last year (albeit not the 2019 version) I think Simpson definitely has the horses to play with Wart. I think the difference is Wartburg knows how to win close, championship/playoff caliber games. I think it's Wartburg in a close game.

Go Dutch! Show us you are ready to turn it up a notch each remaining game because you still have the ability to control your destiny the rest of the way.

Simpson or Wartburg will get their first conference loss today The Dutch will hopefully add to both of those teams' loss columns and all will be right with my world.  ;)

We are in Dubuque for homecoming. Will be radio silent until probably noonish on Sunday. Hopefully Mrs Doolittle doesn't get too upset with her husband and his old friends telling their "back in my day" stories 😏

Dutch win 44-27 over BV who did a great job of shutting down our running game. It's the first step back in the right direction. Blaine Hawkins set to break the school record for touchdown passes next week at home with a full year remaining to set that record as a massive goal for future Dutch quarterbacks.

Congratulations to Wartburg on their win over Simpson. They are clearly in the driver's seat. I am still counting on Central to challenge though. I can't stop believing in this Dutch team.

I forgot to mention that Jon Alberts had another perfect kicking game. He is just so good that I tend to just take his perfection for granted most games. He was 3 for 3 on field goals and 5 for 5 on extra points. He has the leg to be a great NFL kicker in the future. I sure hope his DIII status doesn't hold him back. His longest FG this year is 48, but he had a 55 yarder last year.

Congrats to Bran Lenz as well.

Dubuque gets the 37-31 win over the Duhawks.

This is the Spartans 9th straight win over Loras.
