The umpire stood over the ball from 0:11 to 0:04. Feel like HSU had its opportunity.

So likely some gamesmanship from HSU that backfired on them.

As in HSU specifically delayed sending players on in hopes of making it impossible for the kick to happen?

I meant to put a question mark at the end and not a period, asking if that is what you were getting at. But yeah, if the umpire stood over the ball from 0:11 to 0:04 and those two players only ran onto the field once he was off the ball it does kind of look like that

Yeah, and that video shows UMHB being set.

Here's the game video:

That's a ridiculously clutch kick. He's just flying through his set up as a kicker! Wow, just wow. What a finish.

From last Saturday's Central/NWU game.  You play to the whistle!

Correct to call this a TD?  Should have been blown dead?

I think I see three refs watching.  It is hard to tell from the stream.  His knees get close but I don't see them touch.  But there is much I don't see on the streams.  I hope that is a sign that the breaks will be going Central's way for the last three weeks of the season.  They will need them.

I was at the game. It looked like he rolled over the NWU player then put his hand down to keep his knee from touching. I have watched the replay several times because it was a phenomenal heads-up play to not let the knee go down and keep going. That said, if it had been a NWU player doing it, I would grumble just because it was one of those "if only" plays. I think it was valid based on what I saw and the fact that there was no disagreement or conference to make the call between the officials who watched it.

I might add that Central players are very astute at not stopping until after the whistle blows. That was one of the most incredible plays i have seen since the last time Central notably continued playing until the whistle blew. It might be time to find the video of the Miracle in the Mud again as most current Central players probably are not aware of it.

Congratulations to Tre Wilridge on making the d3foitball Team of the Week. Tre had some incredible pass breakups against a very talented NWU quarterback and bigger receivers. Tre really gives 100% on the field and it sure showed on Saturday.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

It is a big rivalry this week for Central and Simpson. I trust the Dutch are up to the task at hand. Central has really been focusing on rushing ever since the Dubuque game. Hope we do a good job of mixing things up in the next 3 games to keep the defenses guessing. We have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and the best ever at Central. I would love to see his stats set a high bar for future quarterbacks. Not that Hawkins is our only weapon. Add Hopp, McIntyre, Robinson, Knaack, Bannister, Schminke and Norem and the options are wide open with talent. Defensively I have really been impressed with seniors O'Tool and Lewin who are having outstanding senior years and showing a lot of leadership on the field. Egli switched from backup QB to free safety and is killing it. Durbala and Wilridge were both d3football team picks for their great play.

Do what you do best Dutch. Finish strong and win the conference.

Looks like I will have the ARC channel on my TV while I attempt to get some work done this afternoon.  Will switch from game to game to see which one is the most interesting.  Less stress for me when my team has the week off  ;)

I hate it when officials screw up!
