Night game finals...

Gustavus Adolphus 80-58 over BVU  :o
Mary Hardin-Baylor 84-6 over Simpson  :o :o
UW-Eau Claire 45-14 over Luther
Wartburg 44-3 over Monmouth
Most times you score 58 points you win. WOW!
I knew Simpson would wish for a 50 point rule.

Not that I wanted Central to embarrass anyone with 80+ points, but I did want them to dominate. I have high hopes for Central and to me that meant being able to bench all starters early and let the subs get a lot of reps. We couldn't do that nearly as soon as I thought. Are my expectations too high? Are the Oles suddenly better?
My two cents worth, St Olaf had some talent and was able to make use of it because Central didn't have the pass rush I hope it will when the defensive line is full-strength.

I didn't plug in until halftime, but I agree with Rex, the D-line was not at full strength.  AS for as the offense goes, I think they'll be alright when McMartin opens up the playbook a little more.  Other than the fake field goal it was kind of vanilla set of plays he was using.  I really like the running with Hopp at 230 lbs.  Mont will be a big loss if he's out for a while, lets hope that's not the case.

Whats up with BVU?  trying to impersonate a Big-12 team's defense,  138 points, did they have two sets of officials to run up and down the field with that?  Pitty those guys.  Simpson might have gone a mile too far on that schedule, MHB is obviously hunting for the championship, but what does this say about Simpson??? ::)

Go Dutch!

Simpson was surprisingly bad when we played them in the spring. I think we went easy on them.

off-topic, but I'm confused. (yes, regular occurrence these days). Massey D3 ratings have all the NESCAC teams as the Top Ten. How can they determine this if that league never plays OOC games?

Also, does anyone have an idea how good that conference is when they refuse to play in the post-season? Take their word for it?

Short answer: Massey can't.  I'm disappointed that Pat even allows pollsters to vote for NESCAC football teams.  They do so well in other sports, that PROBABLY they are also good in football, but who the hell can tell.  In football, I don't even consider them to be IN D3.  They are just their own intramural conference.

AO

I think the NESCAC champ could win a playoff game or two in the East if they ever get to play.

Central 55-6 in the 3rd. This was what I expected last week. Nice job Dutch. Starters out before the end of the first half. Cool down boys.

Central wins 69-13 with subs in the entire second half. Central finds a replacement for Logan Mont who had such a great start last week.Lots of quarterbacks stepping up for the second string position. I think we played 5 other than Hawkins and they all stepped up. Nice play on both sides of the ball.

Wartburg loses to Gustavus 27-18. Coe was leading Hope last I heard. Simpson losing in a lopsided gave to Wisc-SP.

Buena Vista scores 58 points in a week 1 loss to Gustavus.  Wartburg scores 18 points in a week 2 loss to Gustavus.  Buena Vista > Wartburg  ;D

I kid, I kid.

Other scores...
UW-Eau Claire 28-6 over Loras
Coe College 28-21 over Hope
UW-Stevens Point 34-7 over Simpson
Neb Wes 20-19 over Augsburg
St Olaf 19-7 over Luther

6pm games
UW-La Crosse 38-7 over Dubuque  (better luck next week)
BVU 58-21 over Northwestern MN  (raise your hand if you had BV scoring over 50 points in consecutive weeks)

BV offense outdid Wartburg in games against Gustavus, then again Wartburg's defense is far superior to BV's in the same match ups. Why am I defending Wartburg???

Loras kicks off the conference at home against BV and UD. Are they splitting their 58 point average between the two opponents? ;)
