I miss seeing y'all on the old West Region board. Just sayin'  :'(

Yeah, we had our own little family over there.  This is like I'm suddenly at the kids table at my in-laws with a bunch of people I kind of know, but not really.  The Midwest Conference if the only family member over here and they're the quiet cousin that doesn't talk much.  ;)

Yes ... I miss clicking on "West Region" and finding all but 2 of the conferences I wanted to read about in one
place.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

2nd week of conference play

09/25/2021

Central @ Simpson  1pm
Coe @ Wartburg  1pm
Loras @ NWU  1pm
Luther @ BVU  1pm

Dubuque bye week

Central is rolling along right now.  Simpson...not so much.  I think Central puts in another workman type performance reminiscent of last weeks game against NWU.
We'll find out a lot this week of just where Coe and Wartburg stand in the conference.  I suspect Wartburg is the stronger team.
Same goes for Loras and NWU.  Are these two bottom feeders or solid mid-pack teams?
Luther and BVU?  I will guess BVU has the offense to overpower the Norse in this one.
Dubuque gets to sit back and contemplate they are currently on an 8 game conference winning streak.  Much like the Hawkeyes, the UD defense is stout, with an offense that is slowly progressing.

Central football fun facts:
Central returned all 22 starters, not all of them start.
Central has 15 5th year seniors
Blaine Hawkins has the 5th highest pass completion percentage
Best broken play: snap well over the freshman QB head for a 53 yd TD.
In 3 games we have had a different leading receiver for each game.
Central has the highest total offensive average in school history.
That still holds! The snap went over the head for a 10-12 yard loss and the QB chased it down and made a pass for a TD after the catch. The defense figured he would just cover it and stopped playing. Central doesn't stop playing until the whistle blows. Just ask any Wildcat fans, they probably remember! 🤣🤣🤣
What happened to the Central mantra that only 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are bad?  ;D

I agree with much of your thinking DD. Central does a lot really wrong if they don't win on Saturday at Simpson. Wartburg is better than Coe and infinitely more out to prove something after having to sit on a loss for an extra week. BVU should be able to handle the Norse. Central left some points on the field Saturday or the NWU loss could have been worse. Then again, they have a good QB who will burn you if given the chance. Loras is doing well on defending the pass, I tend to give the edge to Loras, but it is a toss up.

Challenge Centralto beat Simpson comparable toUMHB and they respond. 49-3 not even halftime.

Schipper Strong

56-3 at half. Central averages about 3. Plays per score.

Schipper Strong

70-10 after 3. Central will be I. Good hands after Hawkins graduates.

Schipper Strong

22-24-0, 424 passing yards, 7 TDS. Not bad for half a game. Hawkins will climb the stats charts this week. 77-16 after the refs give Simpson a TD catch 4 yards out of the back of the end zone.

Old Dutch

wow, 12 touchdowns in 24 minutes of possession, 4 TDs in the second half with the back-ups in.  over 750 yrds of offense.  I dont think either team is that good or that bad, Central was playing very well no matter who was on the field.  I hope you saved a little of that for next week.

BVU over Luther 32-7
Central over Simpson 84-16  :o  :o  :o
Loras over NWU 31-30  Duhawks 38yd fg with 30 seconds left.  NWU then drives and has a hail mary batted down in the endzone at the buzzer.
Wartburg 28-7 over Coe  Knights were who we thought they were!

I guess Loras and NWU truly were a toss up. Sounds like it was a great game that would be gut wrenching to lose.
I see Central winning against Wartburg on Saturday. This Central team has heart, belief, desire and perseverance. It might be some quick hits like last year that left Wartburg stunned in the first half. Unlike last year, we are going to keep it going. Won't be a Simpson score, but as long as they have that memory of Wartburg's comeback last year in mind, the second half lapse won't happen either. It is another game where we need to prove we have taken that next level step.

Coe bye week

A sluggish UD offense matches up against a porous Beaver defense.  A solid UD defense matches up against an I guess strong BVU offense.  History suggests a UD win.
Prairie Wolves travel to Decorah to lock horns with the Norse.  Luther offense is a work in progress.  NWU "looks" like the better team so far.
Simpson playing "defense optional" football so far this season.  Loras, while not a great team, should have the offense to score on the Storm.  Duhawk victory
Early season match up of the 2019 co-champions.  Home team won last time, I think the home team wins again.  Central in a surprisingly easy victory in Pella this Saturday.

Coe with the bye week.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing to get your bye week after a loss?  Doesn't really matter either way? Depends on the phycology  of the team?

OMG! Defense optional football! I split a gut laughing! To be fair to Simpson they have had a crazy tough early schedule. One advantage to having 15 players come back just to play football is the academic load is incredibly light. It isn't a normal 15 or so credits, it is probably one class. They have the extra time to really focus on what they came back to try to accomplish. Has to be a huge advantage.
