Actually Central's leading receiver from the spring and first game has been out since the first game. Would love to have had Logan Mont in the lineup. Go look at the receiving stats for our first game, then look at the receiving stats USee posted. We are succeeding without a gifted athlete. We also lost a power runner capable of carrying players in Noah Treimer. He wasn't a starter, but he was a capable ball carrier to rest Hopp.

I will make two predictions and wager a pint of lumpy mashed potatoes and gravy.  The first one is recycled from the Bethel game, that the winner will be the first team to block a kick. Central used to be pretty good at it. It is disturbing now to see it is a Wheaton specialty. The second I pull out of...well you don't want to where I pull it from, that the loser will be the first team penalized at least 45 yards.

Sounds good. You are on. If you are right on both. predictions, I will send a pint of lumpy mashed potatoes and gravy to the d3football.com offices.  If you are wrong, you do.

Can we raise the ante to include some leftover stuffing and cranberry sauce??

USee

I believe Wheaton needs to score in the 30's to win. I think they can hold Central in the 20's. If Central scores in the 30's or higher, I think Central's chances of winning increase dramatically. And if Central holds Wheaton to 3 scores or less, it's going to be hard for the Thunder to win.

We all have our belief as to how this plays out. That's what makes the boards fun. I have tremendous respect for Wheaton. They absolutely rolled us two years ago. I am not intending to put them down or disrespect what they have accomplished this year. But if I believed that was going to happen again there would not be much to look forward to on Saturday.

I choose to have confidence in Central this year. I think boldly about their prospects.  Just what a true fan should do. I am glad you guys have the confidence to question what I believe. Heck, Washed Up Card is putting a donation on the line and he isn't a Wheaton fan. Saturday will be fun for one of us and heartbreaking for the other. I will take fun for Central.

I am confident in my predictions but I am not parting with any of my leftover stuffing.

Less than 24 hours and the game will be underway. Good luck to the Dutch as they try to avenge last year's second loss and move on to the quarterfinals. Obviously Wheaton being our next opponent makes them the greatest threat to our moving forward, but they are also that because they are a team capable of winning it all. IMHO so are the Dutch. That feeling isn't just Blaine Hawkins or Blade Durbala or any one of the outstanding players on this team. It isn't just the 15 5th year players. It is all of them collectively playing together and believing in each other. Trusting each other to get the job done and for the rest of the team to step up when something doesn't go as planned. Looking forward to watching a few more games and breaking a few more records. Go Dutch!

It's a shame that either your team or USee's team has to lose tomorrow.  I enjoy reading both of your posts so much. I know it doesn't mean either of you has to stop posting, but I also know there's nothing like the passion of rooting for your team!

God's blessings on both teams tomorrow and no injuries, please!

It looks like good football weather in Pella tomorrow!  I will be listening to the game as I watch NCC take on UWL.  It has all the makings of a battle for the ages.

If NCC and Central make it to the finals I will definitely take you up on those Dutch Letters!

Take care and enjoy the game!

Playing for cause is the greatest motivator in sports. It is much stronger than playing for glory. Cause driven teams achieve a lot more than glory driven teams. That's what scares you about Central. They are clearly playing for cause not glory. Wheaton is constructed the same way, always has been. That's why the Thunder have been so successful. I look forward to two cause driven teams going at it tomorrow in Pella. I think Wheaton is a final 4 type team with the talent to win it all. If Central wins, it will be because they are in the same class as the Thunder and a small group of other teams.

I went out for a late breakfast this morning and the first thing I noticed after some Central students leaving was a guy with a red NCC sweatshirt on. Scouting us early, huh?  :)

Washed Up Card, Bleed Purple and USee, thanks for coming to the ARC board and chatting with me. It would have been a lonely week without you. Hoping I still want to be posting after tomorrow. It does look like a perfect game day forecast for the end of November. Now projecting 57 and sunny. It is windy and chilly today. Hope to meet up with your teams moving forward. May your teams stay healthy and play solid games on Saturday.

I read your stuff during the week but didn't respond. I wish now I would have. At least you had some posters chatting with you.
It's nice seeing Central back in the playoff mix again. I remember always hearing about the consecutive winning season streak. Very impressive.
Good luck to your team tomorrow. Always nice having a home game.
This Mount Union alumnus will be at my game and following yours. Go Raiders! Go Dutch!  8-)  ;D
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Thanks MUC57! Good luck in your game tomorrow. Sadly we had to switch from consecutive winning seasons to consecutive non losing seasons because of one 5-5 year that never should have happened. There were internal things going on that interfered with the mindset of the players just enough to break that streak. I used to work at Central and I believe right after I started our dean became your president and somehow MUC became incredibly successful in football after the change. Does Kolenbrander ring a bell?

That's funny!  It's never too early to start preparing!  Or maybe they read the posts this week about the high quality pasties in Pella and wanted to find out what all the fuss was about!

I was looking at the posts again and this reminded me of when Central and Augustana had to go all the way to Kings Island, OH when we were 3 hours apart. I think one of 11 Central fan busses stopped in Rock Island to pick up Viking fans to fill out the last bus. The weather was much better at home as it snowed in Ohio and the bleachers all had 4" or so of snow on them.

Odds of Dutch letters making it to Ohio without being eaten? Better buy a lot. Homemade ones are better though.
