Central pregame write up is out:
https://athletics.central.edu/news/2021/12/1/football-central-tackles-d3-football-power-in-ncaa-quarterfinal.aspx
Sounds like Knaack is out, but Wagner could be back for the game. Hopp, no pun intended, is like the energizer bunny. He takes a licking and keeps on ticking. If you only want to read about what Whitewater brings to the table you can read their release, though Central's probably lays that out better as well. Great job by Larry Happel as always.

These are really well done write ups. I think it's a near lock that Hawkins breaks B. Elliot's record on Saturday for TD passes. I'd like to see a list that included all of college football. Solsma at Morningside had 72 TD's + 5,391 yds back in 2018. Niles the WR had over 2,500 yds receiving as well.

Also, I'm shocked that Schminke and Hopp are able to play this week after those injuries on the last drive  ;)

Schminke wasn't hurt to my knowledge. He was the guy who caught the last TD. I think Hopp (RB) and Knaack (WR) as well as Wagner (RT) were the main injuries from last Sat.

That's my point. He got an injury TO after a catch on the final drive, which stopped the clock. As did Hopp. Schminke was back on the field after a play. I'm not knocking it, I think it was some savvy gamesmanship by experienced players. Especially the final one, allowed Central time to get the play they wanted, and to run that play, rather than spike the ball.

Gotcha. Didn't see the "wink" emoji.  The last play was especially bad because the Umpire put the ball ready for play before Hopp was off the field and Central snapped the ball....Wheaton had a blitz on and the Central center blocked the wrong way so Dallas McCrae was coming in unblocked on Hawkins as well as OLB Daniel Herber. That play would not have ended well, but the Head Referee blew it dead so the "injured" Hopp could get off the field completely. Alas, the final play the center blocked the right way and Hawkins and Schminke made an adjustment to the blitz to complete the pass.

So your saying I can get by with only four layers?
If you are prone to being chilled, you might want 5 on top, two on legs, and three on feet:

My 40 degree strategy is:

Under armor long sleeve t-shirt
Regular t shirt
Long sleeve t-shirt
Hoodie
Winter Coat

Long underwear
Decently warm pants

Two pairs of socks
shoes.

Hat and gloves available if needed.

I consider 40 even as if it's the 30's.  I like lots of layers because I can always take one off if too warm!

That's all I got, lol.

My goodness....what in the world do you wear when it's actually cold?!  That's an impressive list for 40 degrees!   :D

I agree. I felt like the list seems excessive when I see it in writing. And I'm guessing I will have to de-layer.  But I have to confess, I don't love being cold.  And for whatever reason, them temp at the Perk often feels much colder than the thermometer reads.  Wind maybe?  Anyway, fair point!

It is kind of down in a bowl isn't it?  Cold air sinks.

Excellent advice, thank you very much.  Just to be sure though, if I have that many clothes on and fall down, someone in Wisconsin will help me get back up right?

Oh for sure! We are actually much nicer in person than on the message boards.  ;)

I'm not sure I have worn a coat yet. Last Saturday I had a sweatshirt and t shirt and only wore the sweatshirt part of the game. Too keyed up to be cold.

Schminke was never hurt and did not leave the game with an injury. Hopp has been hurt repeatedly this year and did sit out a game. He has a recurring injury, but plays on it. He was limping at the half against Bethel and still played the second half. I don't doubt he was hurt Saturday as it was a hard hitting game. I guess when you want to see something you do.

Hopp has been hurt enough this season in blowout games that I don't suspect anything nefarious with his injury. The ref absolutely blew it, no doubt about that, but Centrsl played hurry up offense all season and would have gotten the play off with no problem. There is no reason at all that Wheaton players could not have played the final play differently than the one that was blown dead knowing that both teams gave away what they were doing.

Schipper Strong

I have tried to analyze and calculate and consult the crystal ball. I think this game will be a battle. We have not had a close game until this past Saturday. UWW gives up twice as many rushing yards as Wheaton, so we might be able to get 16 yards on the ground this week.  :) It might be another good week to let Hawkins do what he does best.

Is it going to be the team that settles for a FG that wins by that FG or loses because they didn't go for the TD? Could this be the game that goes into OT? If it goes to OT Central wins by one. If it ends in regulation, Central by 3 or 4. So whichever way that FG scenario goes, Central did the right thing!  :o

Brett EllioTT's 110 in 2 years?

Nah, his 61 in 1 year, for which he's currently tied.
