Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

That issue with the Mary Hardin Baylor coach letting a player use a car has me curious.  Is this something that will fall under NIL in the future?  Could a Waverly car dealer that is a Wartburg alum tell the QB he can use a car from his lot for the school year if the kid does a local commercial and signs a few autographs?  Could the Dubuque Old Chicago tell UD football players they can eat free for the semester if they do some autograph signings?  Would that really have any effect at all in the recruitment process at the D3 level?  Is there some sort of documenting process players or schools have to go through to make this look legit over the old days? That Southeast Polk kid that just signed with Iowa said NIL didn't play a roll in him choosing Iowa over Notre Dame and OSU.  Just curious.

I don't know enough about nil honestly. But I know a couple of d3 folks down here in Texas signed nil deals with several brands. I'm assuming that the limit is whatever the person making the deal wants to set it.  I guess current nil stuff says schools themselves can't do it.

Good luck Joe! You have your work cut out for you.

Blaine Hawkins have a wonderful time in Canton! Hope you bring home a well deserved trophy! It may be one you would gladly trade for another one earned by the team, but that wasn't to be. This year. Best of luck to you!

I missed the huge moment! I thought it was to start at 4:30, but it started at 4:00! Congratulations to Blaine Hawkins on winning DIII player of the year! I hope I can see a replay later. We knew you deserved it Blaine! Glad the rest of the country knows it too!

Okay Dutch, Broc Rutter won the Gagliardi Trophywith an insanely good season as North Central's QB in 2019 and graduated. NCC returned to the Stagg Bowl without him. So Dutch, it can be done. Maybe some seniors want to come back and give the next step a shot. Work hard in the off-season and go at it again next year.

Well shoot, Hawkins didn't get to go to Canton for his award. Oh well, I am sure he had more fun celebrating with his teammates and coaches.

Congratulations to Blaine Hawkins, Tanner Schminke, Josh Mayhew, Hunter Maddy and Blade Durbala on their D3Football.com All American awards! Losing all of you will make repeating so challenging, but you have shown great leadership to the younger players. I hope they learned their lessons well and make this a year to build on from, not the top of the pinnacle. To all the 5th year guys you were amazing. To the current 4th year seniors, there is a lot of young talent returning, why not join them? Best of luck to you and thank you whatever you decide.

Congratulations to Central QB Blaine Hawkins on winning the Gagliardi Award. I think this is more prestigious than the Heisman Trophy because it is for more than athletic ability. It combines education and community servicer as well. I don't really know anything about this young man, but, we have had our share of winners at Mount Union and I know the type of person who qualifies for this award.
Well done, Mr. Hawkins. The very best to you as you go forward.
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

The pregame show started at 4. The Gagliardi announcement was at 4:30. Fun moment and great to get Blaine on camera!
