Going back to the earlier topic about Central and Wartburg's success in recruiting Iowa players part of it is that we may have larger alumni networks and family connections. Lots of siblings following each other. I am sure you all enjoyed the Kacmarynski and Sanger brothers era favorably. Then those players become high school coaches, etc.

Unfortunately, Kickoff is a thing of the past at this point. We lost some people who were really big contributors to the product when Adam Turer and Keith McMillan both "retired" from the site. We don't have any way to replace their contributions to the project.

Thanks Pat.  Producing Kickoff must have been a huge task.  First we lost Street and Smith's d3 coverage and now Kickoff.  At least we have daily contact through d3football.com.  Thanks for your continued efforts on behalf of d3 fans/friends everywhere.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Looking forward to Saturday and getting to see what Central has brought back and brought in. I am excited at the caliber of many of the new players. We will be good again, just not sure how long it will take to get the new combinations up to speed. Happens every year, but this year more than most. Go Dutch!

Dutch up 17-7 at the half. Much different from last year.

Marietta beats Dubuque 14-13
Dubuque had a 22 yard FG attempt blocked, a PAT attempt blocked, and a 22 yard FG attempt missed. Ugh.

Central up 37-13 under 4 minutes left.

Good game today with the Oles. They played better than the score shows. 44-13 was the final. Central has some work ahead in some areas and some areas that shined. Ketchum made a great bid for the starting QB position, which I really expected. His throwing arm rates right up there with Hawkins. That's okay if we want to play every game like Wheaton, where we choose not to have a ground game. We have something to work on. We need Hopp to be glad he came back for a 5th year. Or if we want a ground game Keegan Glover really made the most of his opportunity at QB showing he has the legs to get something going on the ground. We were not passing at that point in the game so no idea how his throwing arm is.

On defense we had a lot of great hits that failed to take down the Oles. At times we left so many holes open the running game for the Oles looked amazing, maybe they were. That is until they hit first and goal. Mighty proud of the way we played in those circumstances. Kept them out twice from 1st and goal inside the 5 I think.

Kicking and punting games shined brightly today. Good start for the Dutch.

Central needs to even up TOP. Oles had the ball for 40 of 60 minutes. On the flip side we are playing without Gagliardi Award winner Blaine Hawkins. They deserve some time to come together. Last year the offense averaged 394.5 yards passing per game. Today we had 399, 4 TD passes spread over 3 receivers, one a 70 yarder. Do not know how that compares with what we did against the Oles last year, but it is a good start. Nice to see Reid Pakkebier have a break out game on defense. Tate Hagen also stepped up and made problems for the Oles' offense. Nice job by some freshmen players today also. Logan Sunvold was spectacular with 5/5 on extra points, 3/3 field goals and 6 touch backs on kick offs.

Wartburg football game to put me to sleep tonight. 10:46 pm and just starting the second quarter. No score.

The Wartburg/Monmouth game looked like the game neither team wanted to win in the first half. I can understand a 3 hr 15 minute rain delay will do that. It was Wartburg 3-0 at half. Wartburg came out to play the second half and is now up 17-0. Seems to be well in hand. Time to go to sleep.

Sure never saw a game start that late. Doubt anybody else has either.
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)
