My Alma Mater, Nebraska Wesleyan needs a new Coach.
11-30 in the last 5 years, including an even more sickening 5-28 in the ARC.  :( :( :'(
Haven't heard anything about NWU, but Simpson will be getting a new head coach after today's resignation.

Here is the announcement from Simpson.

And Hafner resigned from William Penn as well.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

I have to say it:  I think Wartburg got a particularly tough draw for the first game of the playoffs.  Lacrosse is ranked #7 in the final poll, so you've got # 7 playing at # 12.  Meanwhile, St John's will massacre their first draw by at least 50.

I think both UWL and Wart are Top 10 teams. One has to lose and is likely destined to finish outside the Top 10, but if geography wasn't a factor both are good enough to make a run at winning a region IMO.

Tough first round draws seem to be the name of the game for the ARC Champs. Last year we got Bethel, who had taken SJU to the wire. In 2019 we got WIAC co-champ Oshkosh in the first round. As I posted before, we get no respect from the NCAA committee. I know part of it is the number of top ranked teams in the region. But this is why I am pulling for Wartburg. We have to gain more credibility and deep runs are the only way. I hate to say it and clearly I am biased, but I don't think this Wartburg team has what Central had last year. Central and Coe both really pushed you and to compete in this region you have to do better. Last year no ARC team could touch us. Still hoping you can do it though.

Well, all we can do now is tie the strings and play the game.  All the analysts on D3.com are picking Lacrosse.  I just hope there's some home field advantage despite the freezing temps.

OTC I had just checked the forecast for Waverly tomorrow right before checking in here. Sounds like 19 or 20 degrees with 24 MPH winds. I guess there is a silver or gray lining to not going to the playoffs.

To all Wartburg fans, I meant no disrespect to Wartburg by my earlier post. I think ANY ARC team that is going to be able to make a deep run is going to need to be head and shoulders above every other team in the conference. Just winning the conference isn't enough. In 2019 when Central beat Wartburg in OT, if I remember right, we beat Oshkosh in OT then got thumped soundly by Wheaton. Last year when all wins were substantial it still only got us to the 3rd round. As Coach Mac has said, each round is another substantial level of football.

On the up side, all the experts predicted a close game so anything could happen. I have more faith in Wartburg's defense than offense, so they need to come to play. If the other team can't score, you won't lose.

There's a chance there will be as many people in Walston Hoover tomorrow as there are at this Tulsa football game tonight.

That's pretty empty. And Twitter is still up!

Congratulations Knights! That win will gain some respect! Nice job. Take down the Johnnies.

Congrats to Wartburg! Keep it going next week!

Switch from Wartburg game in time to see Whitewater fall to Aurora. So much for the anticipated WIAC rematch. There is much cheering heard throughout the brackets.

OrangeAndBlack

Great win today for the Knights! (It was painful listening to the home-team KnightVision announcers wishing for a visiting team comeback, but we've been hearing those comments all season long. Grrrr.)

Outside the Crate

Sweet win for Wartburg.  If I recall correctly, all the analysts on d3football.com picked the Eagles, so that sweetens the win a bit more.  Of course, with Aurora's win that means there won't be a Wisconsin univ in the second round. Breaks my heart.

I chuckled at the announcers. "He's churning more than butter!" And "The boo-birds are out today."
