Of those 8 Wartburg losses (an incredible feat over a 10 year period) how many different teams were they against?

A few schedules have started being released.

UD: https://udspartans.com/sports/football/schedule

NWU: https://nwusports.com/sports/football/schedule

UD stepping up to the plate with some heavy hitters out of the WIAC. NWU going the NAIA route and I don't know much about either team.

Both schools are ok. UWL played a couple games against Dakota State recently, and UWL won pretty handily. Mayville State has played NWU recently, too, and won a close one. Mayville also played BVU a few years ago, and split a home & home. Dakota State's usually a little above 0.500 in a pretty solid conference, and Mayville State usually a bit below 0.500. I would say the expectation for NWU-Mayville St. would be a close, competitive game, with Mayville St. slightly favored. If NWU beats Dakota St., that would be a sign that they've improved quite a bit over the offseason.

Looks like UW Stout will also be hosting Wartburg in 2025, that's a great matchup

This is the 2nd leg of a home & home from a couple years ago that Wartburg won 27-0. It was Wartburg's second game and Stout's first of the season. That was a good Stout team, too. They had two 1st team All-WIAC receivers and a 1st team All-WIAC QB that was my model's offensive MVP in 2021. They couldn't get anything going offensively. They have a new coordinator since then, so I'm sure they'll come in with a different gameplan, but in 2022 it looked like they thought they could just line up and run their base/camp offense and rely on their athleticism to win matchups.

As noted above Wartburg has released their schedule with their nonconference lineup being their yearly matchup with Monmouth and then traveling to Menomonie to play UW-Stout. The schedule sets up rather favorably for the defending champs in that they do not have to play back-to-back away games during conference play (this may be a new aspect of the conference schedule someone feel free to correct me) and not playing the other top 3 of the conference (Central/Coe/ud) in back to back weeks.

Just picking up on this from another board but it looks like Central will be hosting Randolph-Macon next season. RMC was a national semifinalist two years ago and advanced to the second round last year. A very nontraditional matchup but should be exciting to see where one of the better teams in the conference stacks up against a good team from the east.

Thanks for the schedule information Driftless Duhawk. I have been hard in Central for not scheduling tougher non conference opponents. Looks like they will be stepping things up this year. I know it means a possible hit to the win count, but you learn nothing from playing subpar teams. If we want to be a better team we have to step up.

UD announces their new D Line coach.  Jon Zohlmann, a 2022 Central grad and spent the last 2 seasons as the D Line coach at Nebraska Wesleyan.  Former UD defensive line coach Rob Huberty is now the Defensive Coordinator at St. Norbert.

Do me a favor. Don't hire Blaine Hawkins as a QB Coach!🤣

Coach Zweifel has also decided that he is not done coaching football as he will be joining Zohlmann at St. Norbert's.

Luther has posted their schedule with noncon games against Millikin and Martin Luther. Millikin is a bottom tier CCIW team, they went to 0-10 last season, and Martin Luther, a UMAC team who went 6-4 last year, although against a lack luster schedule. Hopefully, Luther can start making some things happen in the nonconference season to help bring up the bottom of the conference.

Although it hasn't been posted, I'm told that Loras is continuing with their noncon series against Hope and Benedictine this year. Hope was a fantastic team last year, winning the MIAA and making it to the second round of the playoffs. Benedictine went 5-5 in the NAAC last season and has played in some incredibly competitive games with the Duhawks over the last few seasons. Last year's game against BenU was very fun to watch, and it was down to the wire. The game against Hope was not productive for either side, and I'm not sure what led to renewing the contract, if I'm being quite frank. I'm sure that Hope would like to get an easy win in the NPI era and Loras feels that it is a good test against a good team. We shall see...
