Sorry to get playoff talks started.  I did not mean to suggest that the Dutch or any team in the IIAC is ready for the playoffs.  I just wanted to know with such an evenly balanced conference as the IIAC is this year as to what will happen with a three way or four way tie for the title and automatic bid.  I didn't know it points allowed or points scored or any other statistics mattered such as in Iowa High School District football does.  I still think that four or five or even six teams are still in the running.  Coe, Luther, Simpson, BV, Wartburg, and last the Dutch still are in the running. Good luck to all.

Long time listener, first time caller...
The deal with coaches is a none issue.  Yes, there can be arguments to support alumni coaches, like Luther's recent success with Hefty and Marlow, and even old Weis helping out.  But there are plenty of arguments that non alums bring an element because they don't get caught up in the hype of rivalries.  A good coach, is a good coach, is a good coach.  You hire the man that is best for the position, and that is it.  In regards to the Luther/Wartburg game, the Knights were out played, and Luther capitalized on Wartburg's mistakes.  I do not feel an alumni coach would have changed that!

Yes, there is a Rose Bowl Rule in effect.  The head-to-head rule trumps it, though.  Wartburg beat Coe straight up.  They get the nod.

According to the IIAC assistant commish, had BV not lost to Central or Simpson, you would have had a three way at 6-2 between Wart/Coe/BV.  WB would have been eliminated b/c of the Rose Bowl rule.  Then Coe gets the nod because of a head-to-head

Anyone want to know who is going to win this week? I've only missed two games thus far  :o, so pay attention, boys:

Luther at Coe -- Luther is on a roll; the game will be closer on paper than it is in the stadium.
Loras at Cornell -- Loras
Central at Simpson -- Central finds a way to win in Indianola
Buena Vista at Wartburg -- I think Wartburg will put it together this week and win a close contest.

Looks like Dutchfan1 will double her missed games total after this week.   ;D  Predictions:

BV over Wartburg by 4
Central over Simpson by 6
Coe over Luther by 14
Loras over Cornell by 13

Charlie Kohawk

It's Homecoming week at Coe and I'm going with home cooking in my picks:

Wartburg over BV
Simpson over Central
Cornell over Loras (did I just say that out loud?)
Coe over Luther as the Kohawk defense shuts down Sherden and Co.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Thursday is here and its time to pick the winners in IIAC this weekend.  Interesting contests throughout the conference this weekend with the big game obviously being Luther at Coe.

Simpson over Central
Loras over Cornell
Wartburg over BV
Luther over Coe--Sherden has another 100+ yard afternoon

Good luck to all this weekend.
GO NORSE!
Go Norse!!!

Predictions:

Luther over Coe
Wartburg over BV
Simpson over Central
Loras over Cornell

Kohawk--in response to the injury situation. A key interior defensive lineman broke his leg last week, and at least 1 linebacker was banged up not sure if he will play or not. The punter/defensive end damaged his knee, don't know what his long-term status is. Duhawks are certainly banged up.

Predictions from Cheesemaker territory:

Wartburg over BV in OT.  BV's receivers will give the Knights all they can handle but a 2 game skid isn't in the forecast.

Central will take this one with a combined point total of 21.

Cornell is going to take advantage of the homefield and Duhawk injuries.

Coe jumps out early but the Norse settle down for another comeback.  Despite putting 11 in the box Sherden runs for over 100.

Badgers over Indiana
Lets pray that Iowa wins or I will never hear the end of it from my brother in law.

Southfan

As much as I hate to say it Norsefan, being a old Duhawk from another era, I think you might be right with Cornell getting the W.  Sources close to DuHawkLand say the injuries are definitely going to have an effect on this game and possibly two more.  It saddens me to say this but I don't see my beloved Duhawks winning a game if they don't squeek this one out.  I might start worrying about UD now!!!

War Pig

I'm 6-2, but I'm just getting warmed up.  This will be a 4-0 week.

Coe -10 v. Luther.......Luther will have tough sledding against a solid defense(best LB's and DB's in the league), and a Coe offense that doesn't put it on the ground.

Wartburg -14 v. BV........the Knights will answer some questions in this game.

Simpson -3 v. Central......Central won't be able to run early or pass late.
Loras over Cornell.....a very boring, yet close game.
Money talks and bull$hit walks.

You lost to Coe, and yet you want to come up with a scenario of how to still win the conference.  If Coe is so bad that they don't end up being one of the top four teams at years end then how come you lost to them?

I'm just asking a question.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Anyone from Dubuque-Is Coach B. on the hotseat at all. How many years has he been there? Is it going on 5 or 6. Other than losing by closer margins, to those of us on the outside, it doesn't look like any improvement in the program. Wondering what any insiders are seeing.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
