It's just a guess.  I could be completely wrong.  I have not seen Luther or BV play, so it is completely a guess.  Hopefully no one takes these things too serious.

Oh they take these posts real seriously...

I see Luther's dynasty lasted all of one week. Then again, there's a lot of season left so who knows...

iowa won, wartburg won, isu lost, and i'm going to watch the chiefs beat the eagles today at arrowhead, pretty good weekend....

darkside, I don't remember anyone coming out and garaunteeing a W.  Everyone knows that Coe is a darn good team.  Suckow looked like he had a good game.  I thought last year that before his injury he was by far the best back in the conference.  Good to see him back.  (kind of)   :)

It is sad to see that devine still hasn't gotten over the fact that Luther beat Wartburg.

Longerboom

Central Posters, who's the best team you've played this year??

War Pig

I was at the Coe - Luther game.  I was very impressed with the Coe defense, especially against the run.  Sherden earned every yard he got, and was never a factor.  His stats are a lot more impressive than he is.

Both of these teams have excellent special teams.  Coe's offense needs to get it in gear, but they have the weapons to do it.  Their quarterback in steady, and their receivers are outstanding(Rife and Suckow - worth the $6 admission and more).

It was good to see Wartburg return to form.  They are the second best team in the league, and will present more  of a problem for Coe than Luther did.  With a defense like Coe's, they will be in every game the rest of the way.

Its hard to say who I think is the best team we have faced.  Offensively I'd have to say Bethel.  Defensively I'll go with Coe.  Overall I'll go with Bethel.  If Bethel had not made the mistakes they did they would have beat us.  Coe didn't make the "BIG" mistake against Central and therefore won the game.  They are sitting in a pretty good spot now and may well be the champ.  But I think that there are some other teams that might want to say something about it. Wartburg comes to mind.  The Dutch looked very good at times Saturday but have to cut the penalties out.  It killed them in the second half against a very good Simpson team.  Hope that the two kids from Simpson didn't get injured very bad.  Never like to see guys get hurt on either side of the ball.  Central did a very good job of protecting the QB this week with no sacks against the league leaders.

First of all, congratulations to Coe.  From listening to the Webcast and reading the posts Coe's defense was outstanding.  Sherden had his yards but didn't see the endzone and the Coe corners sounded like they were awesome.  It also sounded like both offenses struggled, especially in the red zone.

devine, did anyone acutally say Luther had a dynasty?  You still sound bitter about the Norse beating the Knights.  And no one was ready to give the Norse the conference championship after last week because they still had to play Coe, BV, Simpson and Central.  The conference race is going to get more interesting each week.

Again, congrats to the victors on Saturday.
Go Norse!!!

Its kind of funny how SOME warts are taking their shots at Luther again.  I'll stress what dbljay said, how many Luther fans were talking about a championship?

war pig, Sherden isn't impressive?  10 straight games with over 100yrds?  41 carries, 201 yrds and 2TD's vs. your knights?  yea, he's not very impressive.  I'll say congrats to Coe again.  They won and now it seems like they are focusing on next week.  I'm done with this topic, on to Simpson.

Walston Hoover

I know War Pigs name sound like he's a Knights fan, but judging by what I remember of his previous posts, I don't think he is.

Congrats to Coe as that game was all about winning and moving on.  Both defenses played pretty well when I was there in the 2nd half as both teams forced 4 turnovers.  If you would have told most Luther fans before the game that the Norse Defense would hold Coe to 14 points I think most would have liked Luther's chances.

I thought Sherdan had another solid game when he was in there.  The Luther receivers had some nice plays, but I thought the Luther QBs struggled again with another top defense.  Coe was putting a lot of guys in the box to stop the run, yet the Norse passing game was not able to protect the ball or consistently burn the Coe Defense for trying to stop the run.

A nice tough game that came down to that last Luther drive inside the 10.

The Coe Defense has been by far the most consistent part of that team so far this year.

Great win by Central on Saturday!  I was looking at the schedule just now and my gut feeling tells me the Dutch should be favored in the next three games before playing at Wartburg.  They have a good chance to really pick up some momentum, and I have no reason to think that they don't match up well with everyone left on the schedule.

Luther has to pick it up over the next couple of weeks if they want to stay in the race.  These next two games against Simpson and Central are going to decide what kind of season the Norse are going to have.  They beat both teams last year, but that was last year.

Floyd, thanks for the eye witness report.  I wasn't able to listen to the webcast.  QB hasn't been the strong point of the Norse since Nimrod was at the helm.  I'm not saying it is weak but maybe inconsistent?

Walston Hoover

Nimrod was a strong point? His record would suggest otherwise. I felt the defensive line was the strong point when he was around.

When Nimrod was able to get protection he was able to produce.  The record of the Norse at the time shouldn't fall squarely on the shoulders of Nimrod.  The o-line at the time wasn't as good as current.  Nimrod would take a hit and get right back up and continue leading.  He was a very important part of that Norse football team.  Having been on his FB team and track team there wasn't another guy I would have rather followed.  Yes, the D was darn good too.
To clarify a little more too, I didn't mean to say that QB was THE strong point of the team.

The Show

Seems like the Knights played well against the Beavers.  Didn't get to listen to it on the radio much due to husbandly duties...but I picked the right time to turn it on quick as Pearson had his 30 yard TD run at that point to make it 27-7 I believe.  Sounds like the injuries are somewhat becoming a factor on the defensive side of the ball.  Some said their OLB was taken out (ACL) on a "dirty" play, but I wasn't there to see it, so I can't confirm/deny it.  BV is young and lacking depth there to begin with...

Walston - Wasn't able to talk to my bro very long, basically just got the score and some stats from him.  I was hoping he'd get a couple carries against the Knights, but looked like running yards were tough to come by Saturday.  He won't be running over too many LB's, but has a chance to give them whip lash as he runs by! ;)

Records are not always an indication of a good QB.  I will agree that the D-line, or the D in general were strong points with the arrival of Coach Marlow.  However, there are a lot of things that contributed to Nimrod's poor record, e.i. no running game, and Coach Pole.  But from a statistical stand point, Nimrod was solid.  A all-conference QB in 2000, and second only to the current head coach, Hefty, in Luther's career passing yards.  So, for a solid Luther QB, he was just that.
