The Show

The little Show would've made a sneaky play when they played Cornell or if you need a fill in player when they play Dubuque.  But otherwise, due to lack of carries at this point, he won't be an every week starter on your IIAC fantasy teams.  However, he should be your "handcuff" player for Pearson!

My picks:

BV over Coe - This was going to be my upset special, but seems like BV's getting a lot of votes so far... And it's BV's Homecoming
Central over Cornell - My IIAC fantasy TE scores 2 TD's this week...
Wartburg over Dubuque - Little Walston Hoover gets 3 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, 1 INT, and a score!
Luther over Simpson - Close call...Home team wins.

Damn tech guys -- they upgraded all of our systems at the office. I got a new computer out of the deal, but not being able to find anything is seriously cutting into my slacking time. :)

Picks for the week:
BV over Coe
Luther over Simpson
Wartburg over UD
Central over Cornell at the Dutch Homecoming

Best of luck to all IIAC teams this weekend!

Hey Show, I've got $500(Monopoly money of course) that says BV won't take Coe.  I'll even give you 14 points!

CooCoo, I like some of your all-league picks, especially Jon Rife.  I used to watch him play at CR Jefferson.  I'll put him against any receiver in the league, and people don't mention him much.....he is a clutch performer.

Sherden is very good, but he is probably the most overrated player in the league in my opinion.

Coe -14 over BV
Luther -10 over Simpson
Wartburg -34 over UD
Central -21 over Cornell

War,

How much did Sherdan play into the IIAC coaches picking Luther ahead of Coe and everyone else besides Wartburg in the preseason poll?  I only say that since Coe returned more starters from last year than Luther did.

If Sherdan is overrated, does that mean the Luther team must be better as a whole than some non-Luther posters (and even some Luther posters) think?  They are 8-3 in their last 11 games yet I hear some questioning how legitimate the program is.  Some were even calling Sherdan the one-man team around the time they played Dubuque.

IMO, Sherdan is not some Walter Payton-type talent that is hiding in the Iowa Conference until graduates and moves on to the NFL.  However, from what I have seen he is very legit by small college standards and has put up numbers on everyone.  Every running back that has ever played has days where they are averaging 2.5 yards per carry until they bust a couple long runs, but what separates Sherdan from some others in the Iowa Conference is that he is capable of busting a couple long runs after you think you are controlling him.

I don't think Luther wins the last four games last fall if he wasn't moved to RB.

Kohawk01- Seems to me the Duhawk defense is doing just fine. I believe they are still the #1 ranked overall defense. They are kind of banged up right now, they will battle through. It did not look like Buesing was happy to be on the sidelines this past Saturday, I would say he was about 75%.
I will say this for the 2nd time this season. Loras is not all about size on defense. They are about speed. I am not saying they are the fastest team in the league, but they try to get their athletes on the field and let them play football.

As far as the McMahon kid at Loras. Is he the best WR in the league, no..not yet.. But, I think the kid has a tremendous upside after watching him run last weekend. Maybe in a year or 2 we will be talking about how he is the best in the league or maybe we won't. I will say this. It says a lot about a kid playing as a freshman at any school except for UD.

First time post, long time reader.

Recent news from Decorah has Sherden out at least 2 weeks, potentially the rest of the season.  Lets just hope that somebody can step up and remotely fill his void.

I like the idea of a high scoring game, but that will most likely rely on the QB(s) and recievers being on the same page.  If so, I am comfortable vs. Simpson.  Without the quickstrike capabilities Sherden posesses in the run game, look for the "home runs" going Perason's direction in the air attack.  If the passing game gets shut down however, It could be a frustrating homecoming without your most dependable offensive player.

                                          Whats really Hood!
U already know who it iz , if not look 2 the left. Yep, its me once again here to lend my support 2 the most athletic team in the IIAC. Its homecoming weekend in Dubuque, and I am not talking about those princess that wear purple and gold (who did that color scheme?) Anyway, I am so ready 2 see my spartans live in action as they take on WB, who I don't think iz as good as they have been in past years, so i expect the Spartans 2 pull this one out in a nail bitter in front of the home crowd which iz alwayz live for these types events. If the stars come out 2 play it will be a long day for WB. UD 24 WB 21.
Just 4 the record Coach B has had a hard job from the begining taking over 4 Coach Murray resurecting a program with no pulse and breathing the breath oflife into it, he deserves his credit. We won last years homecoming aganist Coe and B will have his team ready 2 go aganist WB who lost 2 Luther, who lost  last week. Any given saturday gentlemen u know how the game go.
P.S. My freshman year I was on the team that lost 73-0 to Luther, and the next year when Coach B took over we won at Luther 21-19 He know what he iz doing. Go get'em Coach.
Also, How Bout Dem White Sox  ;D!!!!!!
Dowjone$ out, see U in Dubuque Saturday. Holla attcha boy.

My Picks:

Coe
Luther
Wartburg - but don't overlook the Spartans.  The UD Homecoming went very well last year vs. Coe.
Central

WH - Things are going OK down here in Arkannsassss.  Gilbert lost two very razor-thin games vs. their two toughest opponents in the final minute of the game.  Ugggh!!  >:(  My bro, the stud TE, was out for both losses, so I can, in my demented mind, rationlize that they would have won had he been healthy.  Playoffs are an outside chance but still a distinct possibilty.

BTW, totally agreed about WH's points regarding Sherden getting injured.  If you carry the ball that much against your toughest defenses back-to-back, you're not going to come out 100%.

And I realize this is a little late, but WOW, where did these Knights come from?  Out of nowhere...BAM!! An old school woodshed beating like the Scott Denner-led Knights of old.  Let's hope they can keep it up.

Go Knights!!
Keep 'em rollin'

A reminder to Wartburg fans heading to Dubuque on Saturday:  The Balltown OctoberFest is this weekend.  Don't miss the fun.  You can have a great meal at Breitbach's after the game.

Dowjone$:

So, you are expecting a big crowd of Spartan fans on Saturday.  That must mean there will be 350 Dubuque fans in attendence.  ::)

Homecoming or not, Knight fans will out number the Spartan faithful.  I suggest the fans dressed in blue should park down by the dorms.  Orange will be the choice of color outside Chalmers Field.  8)

On a serious note.  We had a football practice injury here in M-town this week.  A young man was air-cared to U of I hospitals.  Head injuries are a scarey part of this sport.  Please keep Conrad in your prayers.
