I know that the strength of schedule changes weekly but Central is 20th right now.  That should help.  I don't know if it does but it should.

I thought the offense of Loras looked pretty strong.  It was surprising that Loras doesnt have that many big people.  Probly going for that quicker, attacking style players on both sides of the ball.  The field looked great and I think Loras actually looked comfortable playing on the new turf.  I am just hoping that they can bring in that momentum against a tough WB team.
Ok Ok ok lets just take this one foot at a time.....

Thehouse is correct in saying that Loras has the quicker, attacking style players.  While they may not have the size that some of the other teams have, their entire team is extremly quick...especially the offense.  I was also at the game last weekend and i thought that the Duhawk offense looked pretty good, although i have seen them play better.  If they bring their "A" game next week, things could get very intresting.

Floyd-
I was at the Loras/Simpson game. I felt that the Loras offense just brought their game. They were able to run the ball successfully, and that McGlaughlin kid at QB really gave them a spark with his legs. Loras was finally able to connect more consistently with their passing game. They are small overall but most run very well. The defense has been solid in almost every game, and the offense is getting better each week. I thought Loras did a nice job of putting Ripke on an island by optioning him quite a bit, because he is awesome. Turnovers were still a factor as the Duhawks really could have put up more points, but turnovers were key. Have to cut those out to beat Wartburg, or anyone else the rest of the way.

Dutchfan2004 - I agree, #10 (Pearson) is very talented, and he sometimes gets overlooked because of how good Sherdan. Were you at the game this weekend? I'd like to hear how Central looked. All I've seen are the stats and scores.

As for the IIAC getting two teams in, It's possible, but I don't think it will happen.  The WIAC has two teams ranked 6th (Whitewater) and 11th (La Crosse) here on D3, the MIAC has St. John's ranked 5, and yes, we have two teams ranked, but they are only 23 and 25. And Central still has to play Wartburg. It could happen, no one ever knows who is going to win in the WIAC. But I just don't think it's very likely.

While I still think too many things can happen, if the Knights take care of business, as does Coe, it will be interesting. The comm may have a challenge on their hands in re: to Coe.

LC65,

Yes I was at the game.  I thought that Central looked OK on Offense.  They tried alot of vertical pass routes.  Some of them paid off.  Luther had a hard time stopping Schuring.  It seemed like when Luther finally looked up and saw that the clock was not on their side any more they kicked into overdrive.  Some great passes and catches by Luther some blown coverages ( or should I say biting on routes by the Dutch D) helped with getting open receivers.  Hats off to the Norse.  I really don't know how effective Sherden would have been with the poor defensive performance in the first have by the Norse.  They had to go almost exclusively to the pass when they went down by 26.  Does that make sense to you?  They didn't even really try to run the second half.  Not that he wouldn't have helped catching some balls but as a rusher I'm not sure he could have helped if that makes sense.  The running back that did run in the first half I thought did a nice job when they did run the ball.  Now if you want to say maybe they could have controlled the ball more with him there thats up for debate because the Dutch didn't take alot of time to score on their drives.  Hope this clarifies for you or if you have certain questions ask and I'll give you my opinion.

The most effective runner in Sherden's absence separated his shoulder on the first play of the 3rd quarter.  That and Central's early success in the 3rd quarter kind of forced Luther to be one-dimensional.  WRs Pearson and Scheetz did have good games.

Sweers is probably the most effective QB without Sherden since he can be a good running threat himself.

I saw him go off the field but didnt know he separated his shoulder.  I agree that Sweers adds another demension to the O as he can scramble.  He and Connell have that in common

I really enjoyed picking the Wartburg/Coe game wrong last weekend. ;D

The best part was tailgating after the game and having my sons call me a dumb ass.  ::)

I've never picked the winner in a dog race either.  Since this week's game is near Dubuque Grayhound Park, I'll bring the Wartburg Knights a victory by predicting the Loras DuHawks will win Saturday at the Rock Bowl.  ???

I realize that is some crazy convoluted logic, but the way this year has been going I'll say anything that might help the cause.  ;)

It doesn't make any difference now, but was Coe offside on the onside kick?  The experts in my section of Walston Hoover were convinced there should have been a flag.

Good question Warthog. I couldn't see from my vantage point, but that may explain why Willis was ripping the officials after the game. That confused me since every other break in the game benefited Wartburg.

I can't take credit for this, it was in Mike Hlas's column in the CR Gazette today. If you want to make the case that Wartburg or Coe are better than Iowa or Iowa State ;)

Wartburg beat Coe who beat Central (on down the line), Augustana (Ill), Catholic, La Salle, St. Francis (PA), Central Conn. St, Colgate, UMass, Rhode Island, William and Mary, New Hampshire, UC-Davis, Stanford, Navy, Air Force, SDSU, BYU, New Mexico, Missouri, ISU, Iowa.

(You could add Luther too)

I would LOVE to see Coe or Wartburg go against the Hawkeyes!  It wouldn't even be a game.  While, I'll admit, it is an intresting line of succession, it is ridiculous to think that either team could ever stand a chance against the Hawks! ;D

Along those same lines....I still cant believe that they lost to Iowa State.  I have a feeling Iowa would destroy them in a rematch right now. 8)

Warthog,

Hey I think if you get this next week pick wrong I'm going to have to put a jinx on your game picking! LOL  :D  You won't be able to pick the Dutch and win when they come to town in two weeks.  Thats just not fair.  LOL to use reverse physcology that well.  But I guess I can't blame you.  You have to help your team any way you can and I may have to revert to picking Wartburg to negate you picking the Dutch LOL.  This weeks picks.  Luther, Simpson, Coe, and Wartburg.  Good luck to all the IIAC teams.

So is it to early for predictions?

Wartburg @ Loras. Both teams are coming off big wins so who can carry the mo?  I think Loras has a chance but unless they put Wartburg away early and force some key turnovers I think the Knights earn the W.

UD @ Coe.  Uhhh, I feel sorry for UD.  Coe in a landslide here.  Suckow and Northern both go for 100+ and Tekippe chips in pretty large as well.

Cornell @ Simpson.  Here is the upset, just because people have been bashing Cornell I think they have some added fuel.  It will be a close one but I think the Rams go into Indianola and silence the Storm.

BV @ Luther.  Luther's offense seems to be getting into gear whether it is early or late in the game.  Lets hope this week their D can put together a whole game.  I think they will and I think Luther will come away with the win.

Good luck IIAC.
