Walston - Good luck with your playoff game tonight.  (Tell your D-Coord. good luck too!)  I'll be over to watch my brother-in-law coach at Waukee.

I like the Knights with two weeks to prepare. They may start off slow, but expect that they will settle in just fine. It is back to the way it should be to be - having the Wart/Cent game important for both teams. If the O stays away from the int, the Knights will prevail (by more than most people are prediciting).

Here's to a very exciting week in the IIAC:

Coe over Loras by 10 points.

Luther 45 over Cornell 18

Dubuque 37 over Buena Vista 29

Simpson 24 over Waldorf 3

Central 55 over Wartburg 52  (6 OT)
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I realize that i am a lil late on this topic, but here it goes.  I cant believe that Dow has said those things.  I admit that at first i was entertained with his silliness and impressed with his way of sticking with his team, but come on?  The only thing that you got off of this Dow is that you have given your school a bad name on here.  In the past with spurrier and others that came on from UD it was understood as playful fun and they would still give compliments to Loras or other schools that UD played.  Hopefully you can make some sense in your head and make a decision to say you are sorry for offending not only Loras' tradition with past coaches and players, families, ect., but everyone on here that took offense to your childish way of typing on here.

On a better note, Dutchfan, guess who is having a baby!!! It isnt me... but it is my brother,   ;D
Have a good week everyone and a good weekend of football, hopefully no injuries for any teams.  take care.
Ok Ok ok lets just take this one foot at a time.....

Ah, November in Iowa......it's when high school football teams practice inside high school gyms for cold playoff games, when the wrestlers start starving themselves to cut weight, and when Central and Wartburg meet to decide the IIAC Champion.  Am I the only one who's glad to see some normalcy coming back to the IIAC.  All this talk about Luther being ranked 2nd in the preseason IIAC poll, about Dubuque being the fastest team in the conference, and about BV and Cornell making some magical run - as Adam Sandler said in "Billy Madison"......, "talky, talky, talky, no more talky".  Another year, and once again it's Central and Wartburg at the top.  No, I've not forgotten about you Kohawks yet - you're gaining some respect too.  Wish I could say that for Dow Jones - I think he's lost any shred of respect he may have had on this board.  Nothing shows a person's true intelligence like the amount of profanity they use to get their point across.

Wish I could be in Waverly for the game Saturday - DutchFan, cheer them on for me.  It's about time we win in Waverly again and knock you Knights off the top.  It's been WAY too long since we came up there and beat you guys (since '97, I think) and you guys are starting to pile up too many consecutive championships.

Here's hoping for a clean game, an injury-free game for both teams, for nice weather on Saturday, and for a helluva game that goes down to the wire.  Oh, and for a Dutch win.
Good luck on Saturday.  Call a good one, WH.  Try to throw in a few nice compliments about the Dutch and maybe pass on the wooden shoe jokes.

Show- Just got back from a great game tonight. Your D-coordinator did a great job. Our offense gave Ames the ball 3 times inside the 20 in the first half and we still pulled it out with a TD with 30 seconds left.
WIng-T, My A-P Falcons couldn't put it together with your offense tonight and bowed out.
Now time to start thinking about Saturday-Like I posted 2 weeks ago, Nothing better than Wartburg and Central duking it out at the end of the year. I don't know any wooden shoe jokes, perhaps you could send me some pregame fodder.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

The weather was more like an early season game than a November playoff night, but any night is a great night for high school playoffs.  Defending 4A champs Bettendorf lost on a late td, so there will be a new king of the hill this year.

Walston, I saw your AP Falcons lost as did my Starmont Stars.  I was hoping for an Aplington/Arlington matchup down the road.

It should be a doozy in Waverly Saturday.  I hope Wartburg has a big lead towards the end of the game and doesn't find a need to go into the prevent defense.  Against Coe it nearly didn't prevent anything.  My heart won't take another final drive like that one.

I assume DutchFan1 will be on the other side of the field this time.  Mrs. Warty and I hope we at least get a chance to say hello sometime during the afternoon.

Where are Spurrier, Doc Dorman and Peacock?  Did the Peacocks make progress towards becoming a legitimate D2 program this year?  I didn't get to Fayette as planned this season.  We went across the Mississippi to watch Augustana the weekend that we should have done our Peacock tour.

I don't know if this matters to anyone, but the WIAC board is going to surpass the IIAC board in number of posts today.  Where has everyone gone from this board?

Well going with the High School talk, how about them Hawks of West Delaware. 10-0 and looking to go a lil ways in the play-offs, lets hope that they get the next game in the friendly confines of Brown Field.  This could be a big year for getting West Delaware back to the top where they belong, Go Hawks!!

cc4ck:

Winter has set in up in Wisconsin.  There is nothing else to do. They've been locked indoors since October 1st.

As you can tell by the posts on the MIAC site, it has been winter in Minnesota since July 15th.

Picks for the week:

Coe @ Loras = Coe
UD @ BV = BV
Waldorf @ Simpson = Waldorf (just kidding)
Central @ Wartburg = a very exciting game and I'm leaning towards the Dutch.  The Knights however seem improved from their early season stumbles.
Luther @ Cornell = Norse ending on a high note.  A strong start followed by a low middle will end with a winning season.  Granted it is not the season many of the Norse faithful hoped for it is still positive.

TheHouse76 -- when was the last time WD made a significant playoff run? I haven't followed very closely since I graduated....

Warthog -- I definitely plan on stopping by your tailgate Saturday morning to say hello before the big rivalry.

Predictions for the weekend:
Coe over Loras
BV over UD
Luther over Cornell
And, the game of the week/month/season: Central over Wartburg in a much tighter contest than I want to admit to myself.   :)

Dutchfan1-

The most recent i can think of is when my junior year was, we went to the semi-finals and lost.  Other then that it has been a while since a legit run. My senior year was a good year, going 9-0 in the regular season but we lost in the first round of the play-offs to Crestwood.  I am hoping that they can take on Decorah, I hear they have a good team, so it should be fun to watch.  Being over in Illinois it is hard to keep up, even though my mother calls me whenever anything goes on in good ol Chesterville.  :)

It's nice to see Dow Jones throwing F-bombs all over the chat room, and only be at negative 13 karma.   I have never used profanity nor called people, institutions or anyone else names and I sit at negative 34 karma.  So what do I have to lose.  I guess I will start F-bombing whomever I don't agree with instead of researching my facts and debating people.  Oh, and coach D.W. learn how to take a joke.  That was nothing but an old TKE, PHI TAU jab.  If the Kohawks don't want my support just say so.  I'll stay away just like the majority of alums do from Coe College. :-*
