#1200
I wasn't originally going to do this, because I didn't want to tempt fate for the Dutch fans.  This has to be my favorite part of the season, watching the Playoff picture take shape.

I posted my Pool C breakdown on my Webpage.  (Bit of an annual thing for me, a huge guilty pleasure)

I really want to see two IIAC teams get in, even if one of them can't be Wartburg.
For the second year in a row, I'm going to be pulling for the Dutch in the final week.  I feel "unclean."   :)

Excellent analysis Lance. Seems like a much more productive use of time than the nonsense that's been going on here. By the way, I hear I may be out of work soon. Any chance you'll be hiring correspondents for your blog?
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

What of UD and Loras, where are the two programs going?  Opinions?

coocooforcoekohawk

After reading around the region it seems who ever wins the Iowa Conference will not get a home game, that is too bad.  With the same record as Concordia-Moorehead, and a conference championship, the winner of the IIAC should get a home game.  That is assuming UW-W gets shipped to he North.  Let's just hope we don't get sent to California.

The Simpson game is going to be a tough one.  It is All American Jason Ripke's last game and I expect him to be a ball of fire.  Hold on to the ball Kohawks.  It will be essential to win the turnover battle.  Any Simpson faithful have any words about Ripke's last game?
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

There are many seniors playing their last game on Saturday, I'd expect they all want to go out with "a ball of fire" as coocoo put it.

I'm not in Tama, I'm teaching and coaching in Charles City.

Go Coe!!

coocooforcoekohawk

It is great that you are teaching and coaching, I know a lot of very successful High School coaches that have come from Coe.  What sports are you coaching?

As of right now, just football(assistant varsity).  The head coach is also a Coe alum.  I swear we are taking over!!

Here are my un-Coe-educated picks for this week:

Wartburg takes its frustrations out on Cornell
Dubuque squeaks by Loras
Central handles BV
Coe's offense again proves to be the difference in a match of two good defensive teams. The Kohawks hoist a trophy after downing Simpson.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

COOCOO,

With the top 4 seeds in the west all   ranked ahead of any IIAC  team how in the world would you think/like about getting a home game?  ;D  You should be happy with any playoff spot.  ;)

And the #1 seed in the west Wants Central...  no mud in the Catdome this year ;)

Here are my picks for the week, boys:
Wartburg over Cornell
UD over Loras
Simpson over Coe
Central over BV

Desertcat1, Central hasn't secured a spot in the playoffs, yet -- we are focused on BV right now. :) We'll discuss the "Miracle" play when we are officially invited to the dance.

I am sure it was posted and I missed it, but what is Chad Pearson's injury for B.V. and any chance that he might play against Central?

Jesse Schmidt has had a great season for the Beavers.

Central and Coe obviously have a ton to play for, but Simpson and B.V. both have winning seasons to play for and a chance to do something big in the last game of the year.  If I were a Simpson player I would be thinking about how down the road 6-4 and 4-4 in the league is a lot better than 5-5 and 3-5.  For a team that has good tradition over the last 15 years and was picked in the preseason at #4, the Storm have a lot of reasons to play for pride.

It could be an interesting week in the IIAC.  It is probably best for the league if Central and Coe win, especially the Dutch.

Loras and Dubuque could come down to the Duhawks taking advantage of Spartan mistakes.  Dubuque plays well in spurts, but I have to give Loras the benefit of the doubt that they will makes less mistakes over 60 minutes than the Spartans.

DC1 -- we're very flattered, but I would have thought you would be itching to settle the score with SJU before putting to rest a play that happened, what, 5 years ago?  ;)
