Fortunately, I only had to pay for one day of impound. Here are the fee breakdowns:

Towing:                                          $45.00
1 day storage at the Tow garage: $9.00
DMPD impound/paperwork fee:      $20.00
DMPD Parking Ticket:                      $15.00

Grand total of my donations to the city of Des Moines and Owens Crist towing: $89.00

Meanwhile, the individual(s) who committed 62 robberies in the Des Moines metro area during January run free.

Great use of your Police Force Des Moines.

Look on the bright side...at least coocoo's predicted fees were a tad high! :)

True.

Hard to look on the bright side when I just paid almost $100 to get my car back from somewhere I didn't want it to go in the first place.

My car's been parked in essentially the same spot since September and it is apparently only a problem on Valentine's day... go figure.

Not sure if this is 100% correct or not, but I believe as long as the vehicle doesn't sit in the exact same spot for 24 hours, it should be ok (obviously as long as it isn't sitting in a no parking zone).  Move two spots over from day to day or so.

Either way, sucks to lose out on money that way.  Kind of like speeding tickets! >:(

Show you lied bout JSPC in football. Saw on the iahsaa website that they are one of only a couple schools dropping from 3A to 2A. That's gotta give you something to be excited about!

True, now I know and knowing is half the battle GI JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I had a brief flashback to my childhood for a moment there.

Fortunately, unlike speeding tickets, this one won't keep costing me money every 6 mos for the next 3 years.

The new Middle Blocker for the Knights Volleyball team, class of 2028, from Ankeny.
Measuring in at 20 inches tall and 7 pounds, 15 ounces-ADDISON FAITH POLLOCK-born last night at 8:24.
Special thanks to former Knight great Dan Schuknecht for taking my wife to the hospital when her water broke and I was in Cedar Falls.

Congrats, WH. :)

Congrats to Wartburg for winning another IIAC Wrestling title.  This is the 14th consecutive title for the Knights, and this was as dominating as any as they had 8 champions of the 10 weight classes and broke the points record at the meet.  Augsburg and the rest of the country have to realize that the national championship is clearly Wartburg's to lose this season.

A bunch of the 8 IIAC champions from Wartburg could win it all, but they should have a great chance at winning at 125, 141, 184, 197, and heavyweight.  I will be very surprised if they do not win at 141 and 197.

Luther and Loras both also have nice teams, but I was a little disappointed in Luther only sending 6 to the national tournament.  The Norse now have finished 2nd in the IIAC for the 7th time in the last 8 years.  Luther has a very good chance to crown a couple champions at the national tournament.  It would be impressive if they could finish 3rd for the 3rd straight year given that this was more of a reloading year and everyone but Lopez returns next year.

If anyone can explain why Forness got a wildcard over Christenson from Simpson I would be open to an explanation. Sending a 5th place wrestler over  a 4th place kid doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Forness struggled in the IIAC Duals and the conference tourney so why send him over a kid who placed higher. Not real logical if you ask me.

Pyle from Luther (#1), Naig from Wartburg (#2), and Forness (#4) were all ranked very high in the latest national poll at 149.  Maybe he got the at large bid because he had a better overall season or because the coaches thought he had a better chance of doing something at nationals.

He was only a #5 seed in the IIAC tourney, but he was 3-0 in IIAC duals this season.  I don't know if he was injured like the highly ranked 197 freshman from Luther, but Forness did not wrestle when I saw B.V. a couple of times at the IIAC Duals in Dubuque this year.  I was looking forward to seeing him against Pyle from Luther.  The lower seed must have been from the fact that he missed so many conference dual meets.

There were lots of good wrestlers at 141, 149, and 197.  Then again, the IIAC is the best wrestling league in the nation.

Hey, you stole my line! :D

Well...BV plays Friday night at Augustana for the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament.  Not much else going on in the IIAC that I know/am interested about...

I think outdoor track will be picking up soon now that indoor is nearing the end.

Jefferson-Scranton is hosting a football coaching clinic this Saturday.  I know Coe's coach is speaking and am pretty sure Central and Wartburg have coaches coming as well.  Farley of UNI is the head speaker for the event.

Walston hasn't posted in awhile, must still be catching up on his sleep!!! ;D

Interesting info from the Wartburg web site:

http://www.ncaa.org/stats/football/attendance/2005/2005_football_attendance.pdf

Takes you to an NCAA publication about 2005 season attendances for NCAA schools.  Congrats to the Knights for being #5.

Interesting to note that Wartburg, Loras, Simpson, and Central all averaged more fans at their home games than the mighty Div. I-AAA Drake Bulldogs (2,344 fans per home game).  Anybody else ever remember getting recruited by Rob Ash at Drake and getting sick of all the hype he talked about how awesome Drake was, how they were this elite D-IAA program, how you were stupid to look at an IIAC school, yada yada yada?   Kinda shows how much more exciting the Saturdays are in Waverly, Dubuque, Indianola, and Pella, than at the dismal Drake Stadium!

Also got to give props to Wartburg for being THE team in the IIAC that's striving to be the best and take their program to a new level - new facilities, new field, the revamped stadium.  You guys are definitely the ones setting the bar for the rest of the IIAC - and that's a huge compliment coming from this old wooden-shoer.  Don't get me wrong - I'll have a great distaste for you guys until I die - but I do respect everything you're doing up in Waverly.

Interesting list -- thanks for sharing!

Wing T, do you think that Central's attendance will be affected by the new facilities? Does anyone have a stat on how Wartburg's attendance was affected after Walston Hoover was revamped?

Drake has a football team??  ;) As someone that lives in the Des Moines Metro, I can attest that Iowa, ISU, UNI, Simpson, Central AND the area high schools ALL take precidence over Drake in football reporting. (Basketball tends to be a different story.)
