Central Fans....As discussed last week I've put together a top ten Linfield moments (positive or negitive) over the past ten years that was voted on 20 people that are involved with Linfield as a former player, Linfield staff member, and some Linfield fans.

Below is a game that depending on where you live at is either thought of as a miracle or a mishap.

In the 2000 second round NCAA DIII playoff match-up, (9-0) Linfield paired off with a Central Dutch (11-0) team at a muddy Maxwell Field.  The game was marred with a slippery surface and numerous turnovers by each team.

The game moved into Overtime where Linfield booted a field goal by Scott Cannon to take a 17-14 lead.  With Central not gaining a first down in their OT possession ,the Dutch lined up for a game tying field goal attempt.  Then, the most heartbreaking, bizarre play occurred that ended the season of a Wildcat team that many thought was a National Title contender with a 20-17 controversial defeat.

Um 11 that was most definitely a miracle.  Pretty sure DF1 would agree with me.

Great clip, WC11 -- that's was the only game I missed that year. It's so crazy to see it again. That was an amazing season for both teams... Thanks for sharing!

From buffalobills.com:

The 2006 NFL Europe season got underway this past week with all six teams beginning their pursuit of a trip to Yello Strom World Bowl XIV.

Running back Fred Jackson turned in the most notable performance among the six allocated Bills players, gaining 88 all-purpose yards (48 rushing, 40 receiving) to help lead the Rhein Fire to a 10-6 victory over the Frankfurt Galaxy.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

The Show

I've heard that Loras' coach, Klieman, resigned and accepted a job for UNI.  Any truth to this? Can't be very good timing for recruiting purposes...
Sometimes You're the Windshield & Sometimes You're the Bug!

Show- I haven't heard anything of that nature. Not that what you are saying is not possible. I talk to a few coaches up there about every other week or so and nothing has been said.

Last I heard Klieman was working hard on the recruiting trails, not to say that can't change and change quickly...considering all the action with college basketball coaches in the state the last few days.

Send me a message, I would interested to hear who your sources are, if you care to divulge that info.

Show, you are exactly right about Coach Klieman. I've got my sources Confused.

I have my sources as well....and they are not disputing what you have said show.

It should be an interesting few weeks in Duhawkland with the new developments. Let me stress...FEW WEEKS. This process hopefully will not be drawn out.

Interesting news about the Loras Coach!  Any word about who will replace him?  Will they look to a Loras Grad first?  Helminiak Sp?

lboogie99

Helminiak actually just recently accepted a head coaching job out at Southern Oregon, so it won't be him.
Razor, Bearclaw, Stinger!!!!!

Confused77

Yea, lboogie beat me too it... Helminiak has his HC job.

I wonder when the school plans on officially announcing this.

I worry a lot about hiring a coach at this time in recruiting. I also am not sure there are any former Duhawks, that are the "right" man for the job. But there may be some guys I have never heard of. I think it is best to just hire the best possible coach, not the best possible former Duhawk.

Time will tell I guess

Loras70sGrad

Obviously you want the best man, but look from within first.  You want to build a tradition at Loras then look to someone who has walled the walk first.

Maybe the next coach wont leave after a year if he has an emotional attachment to the place.

Confused77

Loras70s- Are you talking from within as in on the current staff? Or as former coaches under Coach Bierie?

I would assume Coach Bierie probably will have a few names for them to consider.
Either way, it will be a tough situation for a new coach to walk in at this time. I would think maybe a coordinator at a solid D3 program would be a good place to start. I am thinking the Raeburn type, not saying it has to be a guy from the Mount, but just a young coordinator from a good school. It can't hurt, look what Raeburn has done at Coe.

Loras70sGrad

I believe Bierie recommended the guy who is bolting on them so I hope they look for recommendations elsewhere.  Hoskins at Rockford  has some young Loras guys on his staff besides Helminiak.  Wasnt there a kid name Johnson from Chicago who went on to St. Xavier?

Resignations happen all the time but  the timing of this one is not in Loras's favor.   My whole point is if you have to take a chance with a candidate because of the timing of this resignation then take a chance with a young Loras grad.  Loyality can make up for some inexperience.

Confused77

I sense some hostility about this whole situation LorasGrad. Am I correct in assuming that?
