Monmouth fumbles after a long run.

A key play since it sounds like he was heading into the end zone.  Good job by your defense in chasing him down...Daniels holds the school record in the 200 yd dash.

I've been uh listening to uh the uh game uh and uh they should have uh changed uh the color commentator uh instead of the the uh play by play uh announcer this uh year.  I really wish they would go back to ALL college announcers, what a great learning opportunity wasted.

WH - Congrats on the win last night.

I "like" how he likes to YELL during the big plays as the play-by-play guy tries to do his job.   :D

All in all a good first game for Wartburg.

Defense was up to the task tonight, but it sounds like the Scots were looking for some offensive answers as they entered the game.  I don't think they found any.  The jury is still out on the Wartburg "D".  I don't think the bend but don't break plan will hold up against the likes of the next two opponents, Simpson and Luther.

Wartburg's offense took it's sweet  time to get started.  Hammes is a work horse.  The new quarterback took an occasional whipping.  I hope the offensive line comes to play in two weeks or the poor qb better have a good health insurance policy.

Night of champions at half-time was kind of fun. 13 out of 19 IIAC crowns in 2005/2006.  Not bad.

Night games are fun but it makes for a long day when you drive the 2 1/2 hours back home after the game.  The Wartmobile rolled in about 12:45.  This makes for a shortened analysis.  If need be I'll add more later.

Agreed Warthog-
As much as I like night games, I couldn't make it to this one. Too late of night Friday after beating a team that had never lost in their own stadium and hadn't lost a regular season game since 2001. The 2 hour drive back and having to be in a dark room watching tape all day today would prove too much to keep my eyes open.
I can't wait to see everyone in Indianola on the 16th. I need to be able to talk smack to my mentor.

The Buffalo Bills trimmed their roster to 53 men.

this release gave explanation to the bad news:

Fred Jackson - A remarkably tough and resilient running back who kept himself on the field despite some injuries that looked awful when they occurred. A slashing back that just doesn't match up physically to the likes of McGahee and Thomas and not as elusive as Williams.

No word on returning to the NFL-Europe.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

The results are in,

K-Mack and Sportsknight are the winners of week one going 7-2.  Myself and Norsefan were 6-3 and Dutchfan1 was 4-4 with a no pick on Luther.  I think I will give you the Luther game and make you 5-4  :)

Not the best showing for the IIAC going 5-4.  K-Mack shows he knows what he is talking about  ;D Winning week one.  We will have to see if he can keep it going.

WH,

Congrats on the big win Friday.  I am sure no one saw that one coming except you and Coach Wilson.  That has to be huge.  Almost as big as when DNH would beat AP.  Congrats again for your kids and coaching staff.  That running back that came to Central from Dowling looked good in limited action.  He can run the ball.  Took and gave a couple of good shots when running also.  I think the running back corps look good for central this year.

Amen, brother.

Sounds like some mixed reviews for the Knights on Saturday.  I always like to see a 0 in the opponent's slot on the scoreboard, but it sounds like the offense, especially the passing game, has some kinks to work out before Simpson in two weeks.

I, also was not in attendance on Saturday in Waverly.  I would have liked to have been there, but made other plans to travel to Green Bay to visit a fellow former Knight, formerly known around here as Lil Warthog's Roommate.  Warthog, you'll be happy to know that it looks like he's got himself set up pretty well up north.  Just another recent Wartburg alum doing pretty well for themselves.

I think I'll catch my first live Wartburg game on the 23rd against Luther, and I'll absolutely be in attendance for the Homecoming matchup with the Duhawks.  In the meantime, I'll try to keep putting 7-2 pick 'em marks on the board.
