Must say this weeks IIAC games look pretty straight forward.

Central over BV     24-7

Coe over Luther    31-14

Wartburg over Simpson     27-10

And yes.....Cornell over Dubuque    30-24
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Alright, so I'm already 2 weeks behind on my pick 'em.  But I'll play along anyway.

Central over BV  21-3

Coe over Luther  34-28

Dubuque over Cornell  17-13

and last but definitely not least......

Knights over the Storm  20-3

Good luck to all this weekend, GO KNIGHTS!
THIS IS...OUR HOUSE!  WHOSE HOUSE?!...OUR HOUSE!  WE RULE....OUR HOUSE!!

Good Luck to all IIAC teams this week especially the Cornell Rams! I think it is safe to say and I'm sure everyone agrees that every week will be a tough test for the Rams and most likely every team in the Conference. Top to bottom I think the IIAC is pretty tough. You can't take any team lightly. Not just saying that either because of our 2-0 start. I agree I don't think this year will be any different than the rest though. Coe, Central or Wartburg will win the conference. Of course I would like to see my Rams at the top but I have to be realistic. Although, if things do go our way I could see them finishing .500 or just over. Turning a program doesn't happen over night. Also, just wanted to say good luck to Dubuque as well and I look forward to watching a good game from both sides. Of course I can't wait to see the Rams prevail. ;D

Walston:  Maybe it's me, but your posts come across as arrogant. However, I admit the second-stringer comment was uncalled for; I was merely trying to ruffle some feathers. You are right, I do not know you Mr. Hoover. My apologies.

Central Fans: Your new field looks sweet! I believe I like the look of your turf more than I do Wartburg's (which is also very nice).

Are there any hard numbers on all costs associated with year-round maintenance of natural grass fields as opposed to the costs of purchasing, installing and otherwise maintaining a quality artificial surface? I would have to believe the latter, in the long run, would be the cheaper alternative.

Rumor on the street is that Wartburg went into the red to fund their new facility and are raising tuition significantly as a result. Is there any merit to this?

In a word, no.  Wartburg's tuition did increase for 2006-07, but the jump was on par with increases over the past 6-7 years.  Usually about $1100 per year.  Wartburg is still in the middle of the IIAC pack for costs.
As I understand it, the new Wellness Center at Wartburg is the final component of the Campaign Wartburg fundraising effort, which began in 2001, if I recall correctly.  The $88 million campaign has also provided funding for Wartburg's new Student Center, Science Center, Maintenance Building, and residence hall.  The new Wellness Center will cost about $30 million, with the city of Waverly picking up some of the cost.  There are probably other people around here that are more informed on this than I, but that's how I understand it.

I heard something about issuing bonds.  I'm not a financial guy so I may be way off base.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Tony,
What can I say? I'm a confident guy.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Question: Would you rather play football on a quality artificial surface having soccer lines or a regular grass field without the same flames, I mean lines?

Question for CooCoo: Why does Kurt Cobain believe it is ok to eat fish?

coocooforcoekohawk

Kurt Cobain is not able to ingest anything.  He is busy decomposing.

Sorry, Dutch, I was busy last week -- and I have to be really busy to miss posting here!

Thanks Tony I think the new Ron and Joyce Schipper Filed is great as well.  It really looks like a nice surface to play on.  Saturday we got dumped on in the fourth quarter.  That would have been a mud field the 4th.  It also would have been a bad surface for the rest of the year.  I know the 2.8 Million that went to the track and field was money well spent.

I believe that the renovation was done partly because Central wanted to enhance facilities and make the track surface eligible to host NCAA track and field meets. I agree -- money very well spent, even though I miss the real turf....just a little.....

That would have been a mud bowl that last 1/4.  Were you there DF1.  The rain really came down.

I think that it will pay dividends as the season goes on.  The players will have the same surface throughout the season and even the game.

Nice try CooCoo, Kurt says it's okay to eat fish because they have no feelings. Way to be a Cobain fan.
