Storm-what?

Wow, y'all are being brutal on the Wartburg/SC game! I'll admit that W will probably win. SC is just struggling to find their offense still. But I am going to give the storm more credit than most. The defense is going to be tough and it will be within 10.

I'll stick with my picks from earlier in the week, but as I think more about Wartburg and the conference race I am getting my early season jitters.

I'm concerned my Knights might not be as good as we hope.  They are coming off a 7-3 season (the worst in a decade) and have plenty of questions yet to be answered.  I look at the senior class and consider that they have lost considerable talent since they were 1st year students.  When the 2003 team headed into the playoffs, 6 freshman were on the roster.  Today, as seniors, only one (Hammes) is still on the team.  I'm not saying we don't have some talent, but apparently some players they had high hopes for three years ago are gone. (So much for trying to recruit Florida kids to Iowa)

I hope and expect Wartburg to pick up the road win on Saturday.  Beyond that I can see some struggles down the road.

You folks need to ease up on your insults about Fayette.  For some of us who grew up in those hills & hollers around there, Fayettenam was a big place.  It had a softserve icecream drive-in and real college girls.

I still think Eicheid Stadium is a neat setting and the walk from main campus over to the field on a sunny October day can't be beat.

Perhaps Upper Iowa was a little different than most IIAC schools but I miss them in the league.  As a kid growing up I had lots of fond memories at Dorman Gym and Robertson Woods Field.  Robertson Woods was absolutely the prettiest place in the IIAC.  Too bad they didn't build Eicheid Stadium there.  There is nothing more "Iowa" than grain silos just beyond the end zone.

I need some Norsky help.

I'll be in Decorah on Saturday for a wedding.  The wedding is at 4:00.  Getting in and out of Carlson in time for the wedding might be kind of tricky, so the Luther/Coe battle is probably out of the question.   As a result I was thinking about finding some establishment that would have the Iowa State/Iowa game on the tube.  The church is at Broadway and Winnebago.  Any suggestions for a close by watering hole?  Someone suggested the Tee Box which appears to be two blocks away.

T'Bocks is definitely the closet watering hole to watch the ISU/Iowa game. T'Bocks is located on Water St at the end of winnebago, straight down the street from the church. If your flavor of beverage is a mixed drink t'bocks is not the place, as they only serve beer. I always honor the dollar pints of schimdt.

This week Sportsknight and The Show wins with a 6-1 records.

Myself, K-Mack, Dbljay21, DaOne, Norsefan go 5-2.

Lorbec47 goes 4-3

Pretty good week for the IIAC I would say.  Cornell comes up big for the IIAC.

Yo,
You guys are too active. I read about five pages and still had to skip/skim about six or so to get my picks in today.

Pretty creative with the field names/word association, etc. But there are ghettoes in Iowa? Get out!

The "We finally believe in ourselves" is a little nauseating, I guess because theoretically you're supposed to believe you can win every game. Kind of like bragging about having 22 players as though everyone else doesn't.

OK,
I don't know if the two-week tally is floating around somewhere or not, and ranking the games by confidence is a good idea, but ... that takes so much brainpower. I have just enough to pick scores at this point in the week.

Don't be fooled, K-Mack. Ghettos are to Iowa what Cedar Rapids is to a "big city." Some of these posters must never have left Iowa. Plus, it's a dirty recruiting tactic to portray Coe as urban and unsafe. To the contrary, our students find the college's proximity to be ideal for internship, networking and post-graduation employment opportunities. And there are more off-campus recreational options than any other IIAC school.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Warthog,
I would definitely go to T-bocks for the college football games if you can't make it to Carlson Stadium.  I worked there when I was in school and the food is spectacular...burgers are all hand-made and you can get just about any kind of beer you want.  Plus, multiple TV's with all of the good college matchups this weekend T-bocks is the place to be.

Go Norse!!!

Whoa! Apparently there is a right and wrong answer with word associations. Take a deep breath there Charlie. I wasnt trying to muck up the '07 Coe recruiting class.

But we have the Homeport,  Mahoney's, and Paddy O'Rourke's a block away or less, and if you feed Dougie enough prairie fires he'll tip over.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Hello IIAC board.  This is my first post, but don't for a second think that it's my first time on the board.

I'll get right down to business:

Wartburg by 13 - I hate to see Simpson start 0-3... wait a second, no I don't.

Cornell by 7 - I've played against Dillon coached teams before and they are quite good.  He'll prove it this weekend by winning his first conference game.

Coe by 4 - Luther is a tough team, but I think the Kohawks' experience in the trenches makes it hard for Sweers to throw and easier for Northern to run.

Central by 17 - A conference championship a year ago and a trip to the playoffs give them confidence to win on the road and the experience to eek out the close ones.  If they don't come close to doing the same this year, I will be surprised.
