That was the game I struggled with the most.
I assume you are taking the points then?
I've got my own competition right now with who beats my spreads.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

DutchFan2004

Yes I think the point spread is to low,  Coe should be a larger favorite in your spread.  Did I say that correctly.  I don't bet but I do kind of understand it.  I think that if you were a booky that most money would go on Coe with them only having to give 12.5.  I don't think to many people if any would take Loras without at least 13.5 to 14.  That's why I said it should be at least 13.5.  Loras' offense will struggle to score.  I don't think Coe will put up huge points but I don't see Loras scoring many either.  Coe is good for at least 14-28 pts on Loras the question is can they score 14 or more to cover that spread?

With the spread if I understand things correctly isn't it used so that the money is basically bet equally on each team.  Gives each person kind of an equal chance at winning.  Otherwise no one would bet any on the underdog and then the booky's take on a huge risk.  That's how I understand things.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

WH,
I like the lines on all of the games, but the Coe game should probably be a 13 or 13.5 point favorite.  If I were a gambling man, none of the spreads would keep me from putting money down.  If I had to bet one, I'd take Cornell getting 2.5 against B.V.  I think the Rams will win, but I will post my official picks for the week on Thursday.
Go Norse!!!

No question about it Ulysses III, Cornell needs to get some key people healthy if they want a shot at winning some ball games. They also have to learn to be able to keep that same fire and intensity when someone can't play. Cornell needs to keep taking steps forward whether they big or small and not take any backward or stay in the same place. Obviously this week is huge for the Rams in so many ways. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Good Luck to the Rams and the rest of the IIAC!

Hey all, is this where I come to talk about the Iowa/Ohio St. game??  (just kidding, but seriously go Hawks!).  Anyway, I just back yesterday from San Antonio, had a number of trip problems and game delays that kept us there longer.  By the way, I hope none of the IIAC teams ever have to play at Trinity University, the officiating was the most apalling thing I have ever seen.  Anyway, I've only been able to scan the last 6 or 7 pages so forgive me if I repeat anything.

I saw someone mentioned Mills and Newmeister might be back for the Rams this weekend but never saw an answer, anybody have any idea?  Also I haven't seen much from BV fans, was wondering what was going on up there??  I know they were a fairly good team last year but they seem to have slipped some this year.  Anyway my picks are Cornell, Coe, Luther and Central.  If anyone is in the Chicago area looking for a game to go to, you should check out U of Chicago vs. DePauw.

Ramfan27 my inside sources  :) tell me that newmeister will most likely play saturday, but I would have to guess that Mills is questionable. Mills is a tough kid but I don't think they want to push him into playing too early and miss even more of the season so I guess we'll Saturday if these two guys play. I'm guessing the game down in Texas didn't go so well...what was the score?

ramfan27

I was going to say, seemed like a pretty fast recovery if Mills was going to play this weekend already.  We loss 25-16, but we pretty much shot ourselves in the foot.  Our first four trips in the redzone we came away with a total of three points, 1 TO and two FG blocked.  We also fumbled the kickoff with about four minutes left after Trinity scored to go up 19-15.  They scored on that possession and that was about all she wrote.  It was a tough one to swallow because overall I think we were the better team, but thats football.  Good luck this weekend

Turf Guy

Mills and Newmeister have both been taking reps at practice this week. From what I've seen it looks like newme will start, or at least see significate playing time.
As for Mills his moblity looks pretty good but I don't know if he will start or not. If he has a good practice tomorrow it might turn into a game day decission.
If he is ready to go for Saturday and dosn't start and the O struggles, I'm will to bet Dillon will thrust him into the mix.
We certainly don't want take any chances if he's not fully healed but I feel this is a turning point game for the Rams. We need this win to get the guys believing in themselves like we did after Alma.

Its nice to see you Ram fans still here.  (no joke)  I think your team has to keep the faith to turn that program around.

I agree that the BV posters have been very quiet.  I know the season isn't going how they want it to but not to show up and put in their two cents isn't fun either.  I don't think that the posters on here have been to wicked with the harassment of the lower teams.  Not like the MIAC lol.

The Show

Didn't realize I was being missed so much.  I still get my picks in every week...

I'll be at Kinnick this weekend instead of the train station, but the Beavers will still roll.  BV didn't exactly start off the IIAC season with the cupcakes of the league.  The O-Line seems to be a little inexperienced (going by the webcasts, havn't seen a game in person yet), but I think they'll improve enough to handle Cornell's "D".  BV's LB Pierce is doing a pretty good Michael Irvin impression by racking up the tackles so far this season.

I wouldn't consider Alma a "cupcake" team if that is what you are trying to say show. Anyway, Dutchfan2004 I totally agree with you. I really do believe that things will change for Cornell sooner than later. Obviously it won't be a real quick turn around, but there will be one. From what I can see from watching some practices and what not is that these guys believe that they can win every game. To be honest as a Ram fan and "lower team" I really could care less if there was some harrassment of us or lower teams b/c we have to prove ourselves to get respect. Obviously on a message board it is nice to just be able to post and not see people putting us down all the time, but coming from a very successful high school program, you have to earn respect and once you get it you have to keep it. It takes hard work, discipline, and continuity. Go Rams!!!

The Show

When did Alma join the IIAC?  BV started IIAC play by playing the co-champions of the league back-to-back.  Tough way to start conference play with a relatively young squad.

Here come my picks for the week.  I need to rebound after last week.   :(

Cornell over BV  I think the Rams will rebound here.  BV is probably the team to do it against since they are in a bit of a slump as well.  Both teams will fight hard for the win but the nod goes to the Rams.

Coe is to much for Loras.  Nuff said.

Wow, game of the week here!  I wish I could go watch this one, after the Norse of course.  I am going to go with homefield advantage.  I know that doesn't always work but the Dutch will come out on top of this one.

Luther over UD.  UD gets a win last week and they are on top of the world.  Confidence is one thing but being cocky is a whole issue by itself.  Luther is extremely hungry and I believe they will pull out a hard fought win.  This one will probably be closer than anyone wants.
