Looking at the stats for the 4 conference games yesterday and I noticed an interesting thing.  The Dutch were not alone in being out gained.  3 of the 4 conference winners were out gained in total yards.

In looking at the current conference standings it is like old home week with three of the four top teams being those we have grown accustomed to seeing ot the top.  That got me to thinking that the IIAC has seen very little change as it pertains to the teams at the top of the food chain over the last eight years.  The numbers prove the therory.  Thanks to our friends at D3sports, here are the conference records and winning percentages of league members since the beginning of the 1999 season.

Wartburg.............56-9............86.2%
Central.................53-12..........81.5%
Coe......................43-23..........65.2%
Simpson...............37-28..........56.9%
Buena Vista.........36-30...........54.5%
Loras...................29-36...........44.6%
Luther..................25-41..........37.9%
Cornell.................19-47...........28.8%
Dubuque..............7-59.............10.6%

Hey all, is this where I come to talk about the Iowa/Ohio St. game??  (just kidding, but seriously go Hawks!).  Anyway, I just back yesterday from San Antonio, had a number of trip problems and game delays that kept us there longer.  By the way, I hope none of the IIAC teams ever have to play at Trinity University, the officiating was the most apalling thing I have ever seen.  Anyway, I've only been able to scan the last 6 or 7 pages so forgive me if I repeat anything.

I saw someone mentioned Mills and Newmeister might be back for the Rams this weekend but never saw an answer, anybody have any idea?  Also I haven't seen much from BV fans, was wondering what was going on up there??  I know they were a fairly good team last year but they seem to have slipped some this year.  Anyway my picks are Cornell, Coe, Luther and Central.  If anyone is in the Chicago area looking for a game to go to, you should check out U of Chicago vs. DePauw.

I think this is the week you thought you were missing dutchfan

Ramfan27,

Got you added.  Sorry I didn't pick those up.  I added you to the list.

no problem dutchfan, i just wanted to make sure everyone else could see how i'm tearing these predictions up.....right......

Ash park, thoughts on the Cornell game?  Looked like they played solid D, just a few big mistakes that killed them.  Also I saw Mills struggled again this week, he not 100% yet or just had a couple bad games? whatever the case may be the Rams have some tough games left so hopefully they can get it together

I noticed at least one thing interesting about Cornell yesterday. In the program for projected starters it only had 1 defensive and 1 offensive player that started that was a senior. I think the Rams are going to be okay. They were pretty stingy on 'D' and their offense is very deceptive. A few more completions in the passing game, and it's a different game. Pretty poor turnout as far as fans go.

Duhawks need a focused week, and a fast start against the Knights. >:(

Ash Park

Ramfan27, to start out the third quarter we gave them great field position. I think their first scoring drive they started on our own 28 and the second drive on our own 45. We also had 4 turnovers. These are little things that if Cornell can fix they will be ok. Yeah I wouldn't say Mills is 100% but then again who is at this time of the year?

Nice win Kohawks! Dubuque is dangerous -- Central beware. I give the Spartans credit, but they'll never get respect until they drop that Harry High School business on the sidelines. Loved it, loved it, loved it when the Coe fans (who outnumbered the Spartan faithful) gave it right back to them!
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

I know I missed the first week of picks, and last week, but I noticed I wasn't in the standings sheet. I think I am 3-1.

I posted my picked for this week a few days ago, but here they are:
Central
Coe
Loras
Simpson
Wartburg

Also, since it was kind of a suprise to me, congrats on the SC soccer teams beating Luther this week and remaining undefeated in conference play! I know it's a football board....but well.......it's gonna take a little more to get hyped up there this year! Not that they don't have it in 'em, just not much to brag on yet.  ;)

Was it Dutchfan that said this was an easy week to pick then picked BV? I'm gonna make you eat those words you know!! (*fingers crossed!)

Sorry, Stormtruper -- I've owned the pick-'em for the last three years. I'm pretty accurate with my picks. This girl knows IIAC football . :)

By the way, according to my sources, Simpson needs a QB to be any sort of a threat....

Which is very odd considering this guy thought he was d1 coming out of high school.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Aw, Coco, you are too kind -- Mrs. Coco is a very lucky woman. Speaking of fine, kick ass women, how is Mrs. Coco? :) How are things in the great Pac NW?

I was wondering if anyone knew how that kick missed by Luther?  I know it was short but was there a lot of rush and he got the bottom of the ball or was he kicking into the wind?  I only ask because I know that kid has a big leg and it suprises me that he would have missed short under normal circumstances.  Thanks
