Well, here we go. I'm picking w/out WH's lines, but what the heck.

Central takes care of Cornell
Luther finally wins one at Simpson
Loras takes care of the Beavers
This one really is tough. Having seen Loras play both teams, I'm not sure which is better the Wartburg 'D', or the Coe 'O'....

I'm taking Wartburg in a tightly contested battle.

Walston Hoover

Lines
Central -19.5 vs Cornell- Dutch can do whatever they want in this one. Cornell may not score although I'll be curious to see what they came up with in the bye week.
BV +8.5 @ Loras- Just don't think BV can make it 4 in a row
Luther+ 3.5 @ Simpson- Luther will find another way to lose. If this game is in Decorah I probably pick the other way.
Wartburg +1.5 @ Coe- I guess I have to go with Coe because of their recent string of titles.
My official pick in this is the Knights. Knights have won 3 in a row over the Kohawks and seem to have their number. If Suckow doesn't play, Wartburg wins 17-3. If he does play, its 17-14. Not that Suckow's play in itself is worth 11 points, but the respect that he demands on the field will open up things for Northern to run more.
This is a young, hungry Wartburg team right now still trying to find their offensive identity. As soon as they start to finish drives, we could see some major points put up on the board. If Wartburg wins, I gotta like a playoff spot. A loss by either team and they are probably out, especially Coe with a date with Central remaining.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

My picks

Loras
Cornell
Luther
Coe

Well this is my first post, but I've been lurking for a long time.  Now, for my picks--

Central-Dutch win big
Luther-finally a win for the Norse
Wartburg-Knights take slim lead into 4th, hold on
BVU-Offense has been looking better and decent Loras team can't slow them down, 4 in a row for my Beavers

Picks for the week:

Loras over BV, the run is over.

Central over Cornell by a lot!

Coe over Wartburg   The Knights seem to have gotten a lot better recently but I think the Coe offense will prove to be to much.  It will be close.

Luther over Simpson   Come on Norse, finish strong!!

Walston,

I don't think your lines are to bad.  Coe should be the favorite at home, but without Suckow I think that Coe is in trouble.  I don't mean to pick at you but I think your statement is weak when you say that a loss by either and they are probably out.  Looking at the schedule I think that either team is dead with a loss.  Teams won't make the playoffs with two losses.  The conference AQ will be up for grabs still with a win.  But the loser has really no chance.  If Wartburg loses they are now three games back of Central with a Central win at Cornell.  With a Coe loss they are two games behind the Dutch with the Dutch yet to play.  If the loser still has a chance at the AQ I don't think that bodes well for the IIAC in the playoffs.  So I think the loser is done in the race for the playoffs.

In other years, I would have said the loser is most definitely out. I wasn't talking about at-large. I was still talking about AQ. Coe has a lot better chance yet with a loss even though it would take some help. Technically, Wartburg still had a shot last year with 2 conf losses in the last game of the year for a conf title. Didn't happen of course, but when you can't ask for much more than a shot at a title going into week 10, other than controlling your own destiny at that point.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I agree that mathematically it is still possible.  But it would take a huge Dutch collaspe if Wartburg loses.  It would take the Dutch to losses in all four remaining games.  That was my point.  I agree Coe still has a shot with a loss to Wartburg.  I guess I was just picking at you LOL

If you forget to make you picks this week.  You can give them to me before the game if you choose to come to Cornell for the first half.  Look forward to seeing you there.

Here are my picks for the week:

Duhawks come back after a tough loss to the Knights at WH and take it to the Beavers.  Loras by at least 10 points.

Central over Cornell by not as much as they beat UDUB.  The game will be in hand by halftime and the Dutch will rest the starters for a showdown with Coe.

Luther over Simpson (should they look into changing their team name?  Not so much threatening like a Storm anymore... maybe they should call themselves the Showers or the Drizzles)

Game of the Week: I don't care who Coe's RB is.  Wartburg shut down the 2 best running attacks in the league with the exception of 2 big plays in Pella.  I see more of the same this weekend.  If the offense has reached its correct maturiy level for game 7 of the year, I think the Knights will cruise.  Final pick... Wartburg by 9.

One quick side-note... congrats to the Knights' volleyball team for the big win last night!  3-1 in the conference and still not out of contention... way to go!
The only thing capable of cutting Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris...

Kohawk Krazy

Here are my picks for the week...

Loras
Central
Simpson
Coe

on the volleyball front, Wartburg is 4-2, not 3-1.  There is a 3 way tie for 2nd with Wartburg, Simpson, and Loras all 4-2.  Coe is one game ahead of everyone else, as they sit at 4-3.

Picks for the Week:

Loras over BV         17-9        Hard pressed to believe BV could make it 4 in a row

Central over Cornell     27-7       Who schedules Central for homecoming anyway ?

Luther over Simpson    24-14     Luther is the best 1-6 team in the nation

Wartburg over Coe      17-12      I'll be honest....I just don't like Coe
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

KMack,

I made an executive decision and since you stated you liked Walston Hoover lines I will grant them as your picks.  That made you 3-1 for the week as Luther got beat.  Is that fair?

Yes, thanks. I probably would have picked Luther too, but with all the travel reservations we made last week, it was hard enough just remembering to pack everything, go to the right airport and get on the plane in time :)

My picks for the week:

Central over Cornell -- the Dutch don't break a sweat on this one.
Loras over BV -- home field advantage helps -- BV is tired of being on the road. If the game were in Storm Lake, I would give the nod to the Beavers.
Luther over Simpson -- I think Luther is a much better team than their record indicates.
Tough call on the Wartburg/Coe game -- Wartburg is tough, year in and year out, but I think that Coe has the juice to pull this one out at home. Coe wins a close game.

(J.S. -- I know you are lurking, reading every week. Did you see that I am not always picking against Coe this year? The Kohawks had better not let me down!) ;)
