The goal was to hit four good teams ...

Well 3 of 4 ain't bad.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

NorseFan

Time for some picks:

Central over Loras, no contest here, sorry DuHawk faithful

UD with a home win over Simpson

Knights over the Beavers in a closer game than one would think.

Luther over Cornell...I hope.

youcantseeme

Central over Loras 17-7
Simpson over UD 20-17
BV over Wartburg 17-14.....it sure is nice to have the best kicker around
Luther over Cornell 28-17.......they have to win this one.......right?????

Maybe Northern wasn't such a terrible choice for MVP after the game that it looks like he had.

Good luck to all teams.

I have put this off for as long as I could...Picks of the Week

Central over Loras 24-14.  The Dutch are just too strong for the Duhawks.

Wartburg over BV 28-13.  The Knights are playing well and know how to win down the stretch.

UD over Simpson 35-20.  The Spartans are due for another offensive explosion and it seems like this is the week for it to happen.

Luther over Cornell 27-17.  The Norse gotta win one this year, sorry Cornell.

Good luck everyone...enjoy the games :)
Go Norse!!!

I think Wartburg is a very good candidate for a Pool C bid.  I know from the way they choose the teams there are 5 AQ's in the West with 3 at large.  I alson know that the NCAA does not have to take them from the West , but we all know that travel distance and money are a factor.  That makes Wartburg very attractive as they can go either to ST johns, UWW, St Norbert's easily on a bus trip.  Same with Central (don't want to sound like they have things wrapped up with three games to go)  I think with one 10-0 team or two 9-1 teams the IIAC will get two invites just like last year.  To have a cellar dwellar (sorry Luther)  in the top offenses in the nation and yet winless in the conference has to speak for the quaility of the conference, not to mention a 2 loss Coe team that has been ranked all year till last week.

Throwin in my picks for the week:

Central over Loras 21-7   .....  The Central fronts are just to big, and the Loras 'O' just can't get anything going.

Wartburg over BV 20-7 ...... Wartburg is in a must win situation, and thats what they do down the stretch.  Don't count the beavers out though

UD over Simpson 28 - 17 ...... I predict a UD explosion

Luther over Cornel 24 - 20 ......... Luther gets it done this week and is able to slow down that tricky Wing T.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

The Show

BV over Wartburg - Game winning FG anyone?

Central over Loras - Won in the trenches.

Dubuque over Simpson - UD has too many athletes at the skill positions.

Luther over Cornell - Carpenter (Former Luther FB) is helping out volunteer coaching at Jefferson and is tired of me giving him crap about the "close, but no cigar" games of the Norse.  So this one's for him!

Its nice to see everyone in my rearview mirror right now with DF1 riding shotgun.
See you tonight in Johnston DF1?
Not much time for analysis this week. Meeting in 8 minutes
I'll take Wartburg, UD, Luther, and Central.
Toughest pick is UD/Simpson
Best chance for an upset is Loras over Central
Nothing cures a winless conference season like playing Cornell.
Kemmerer may be the best kicker in the conference, but I'd take Herzberg any day.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

dutchfan1

WH, I've been in the drivers seat all season -- somehow last week I let you catch up. (Shame on me.... 1-3 was just bad!)
I may catch up with you at Johnston tonight - what time do your boys play?
A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

Crimson and Bold

Central
UD
Warburg
Luther..

I hope that I miss them all if that's would help Coe... but I don't think I will.

Finally some love for the Beavers.  I think it's gonna be a close game, but gotta go with my Beavs comin' out on top.  Wartburg falters late and loses the lead.  Kemmerer anyone?

I'd take Herzberg, a long snapper, and Wartburg's D over whatever BV has to offer on the lake tomorrow.
