I guess I'm not totally surprised by everyone picking UD over Simpson. We certainly haven't had the season everyone had hoped for but, it's really hard for me to stomach this because UD hasn't beat SC in 19 years. So we'll see...SC over UD 27-14

Does anyone recall any recent IIAC teams that started at least three freshman offensive lineman? That's the case with Simpson this year. It's pretty hard to have a successful offense when three of your starting o-lineman were playing on Friday nights last year.

Stormchaser,

I didn't know that about Simpson.  I agree with you about the freshman on the o line.  To me o line is the tuffest to play.

Stormchaser -- I'm assuming that your o-line is so green because of graduation attrition. Where are the sophomore, junior and senior recruits stepping up to replace last season's graduating class? If the freshman are playing this season, I'm sure they have earned their spot.

Storm-what?

Stormchaser- You are right- one of the biggest problems with the Storm offense this year is the o-line. Too small, too young. Give them some experience. Don't count Storm football out yet! I believe they are very young.... some things just take time.

I of course agree on the UD game0- hard to stomach losing to them, so I sure hope we win! 19 years is a long time!!

What was the Central over Luther streak?  Wasn't it in the 30's??  My dad played ball for Luther back in the late 60's and their only losses came to the Dutch and one or two others.

With the hits my Karma took I guess the o line isnt the tuffest to play.  When I said that I forgot to say the tuffest to play as freshman.  Your body hasnt got the size it takes most of the time to be successful.  You have a large playbook to learn.  You have to learn to block the defensive scemes that the defenses use.  I would hate to be a freshman and block the Wartburg defense.  I don't think running pass routes as freshman are to tuff.  Maybe a tuffer job would be quarterback, but if a freshman plays QB as a freshman then the cupboard is bare at your school.

Or maybe it had something to do with repeated use of a misspelled word.  ::)

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Good Luck to everyone this weekend especially the Rams of Cornell. It's time to put 4 quarters together and get W in the conference. It was nice to Adam Eichhorn get some snaps in last week against Central. It will help having him back out on the field more and more in these last three games as far as leadership goes.

Go Cards!
Go Hawks!

Ahhhhh.  Finally Saturday.  Anyone else pumped for some IIAC football?  I know I am.  Goin' to old J. Leslie Rollins to support my Beavs.  Hopefully they can pull one out against a good Wartburg team.  Good luck to all the teams.  Seems like another great Saturday in the IIAC.

Late picks for today:

Luther

Central - Almost went with the upset here, but I let my head decide this one rather than the gut. Plus, I don't know if Loras has it in them after the last couple of weeks.

Simpson - I had UD, but after a couple of less than stellar weeks I find myself 2 back of DF1 & WH, so I need to go against at least one of their picks today. This game was the obvious choice.

Warts -  Of course. The question: Is the defense going to give up 1 big play today? If not, the Beavers just get their 2 field goals & the Knights score 17 - 28. At any rate, the game won't be as close as the score.

Good luck to all today. Let's have an injury free Saturday.

P.S. Hawks, Vols, Bears win

To have a cellar dwellar (sorry Luther)  in the top offenses in the nation and yet winless in the conference has to speak for the quaility of the conference, not to mention a 2 loss Coe team that has been ranked all year till last week.

I don't get it ... how does Luther's offensive yardage speak to conference quality? So they run around between the 20s ... They're unranked in scoring offense.

As for Coe, they were only ranked while they had one loss. If they'd been ranked as a two-loss team, ala Linfield, it might mean something. Coe -- horrible NC schedule BTW -- dropped like a stone with that second loss. A more telling thing is that there are nine one-loss or two-loss teams ahead of Wartburg in the current top 25.  I'm not bashing the conference, I just don't think these mean much.

BV drops a TD pass, but then gets an INT on their following defensive possession.

Wartburg is playing a freshman QB???
