Please -- I grew up in NE Iowa -- Coe's neighborhood doesn't scare me. The thought of wearing Coe gear scares me more than traveling through the neighborhood.  ;) (All this talk of the "ghetto" makes me laugh!)

I'm looking forward to one hell of a game this weekend -- I'll maybe see you guys there!

New to the board and am here to say hello.  I wish I had known about this board earlier.  I have been posting on bigfootball.com re: the Iowa Conference with nobody on their replying.  I have been doing predictions as well and have gone 36-9 on the year overall...not sure what my record is for just the in conference games, I will have to look that up.  Hello to all and I will be sure to check this board regularly.

Welcome to the board, buddy!

Well Doolittle you will have to compete with a ringer here on the pickems.  Dutchfan1 has icewater in her veins.  She's as good as we got here.

Welcome to the board.

DF1  It may be hard to catch you now with only two weeks left and a three game lead on me.

It is a shame that Zach Sweers won't get the awards that his stats deserve.  I know Luther has a poor record this year, but the kid is averaging over 300 yds total offense.  He is by far the best QB in the league and possibly the best offensive player.  I firmly beleive "to the victors go the spoils."  Its just to bad the Norse couldn't win a couple of the close ones.
The norse are the only team in the league that plays to the level of their competition every week.
I coached at Luther for the first four years of the Hefty era.  I also played for Hefty at Aurora University and I can say without a doubt the Norse will not be kept down.  I love IIAC football.  I don't care what anyone says, this is one of the top 3 conferences in the country (top to bottom), and I tell kids in Illinois that all the time.  Good luck to all IIAC teams (hopefully they get 2 reps in the playoffs

Sorry for the absence. Big win for the Knights to stay in the hunt. Even bigger for keeping me tied with DF1 although  a loss would have sunk us both. Tough to find time to post with the quick turnaround between last week of year and first round of playoffs.
Show-I believe it is indeed Harbor's brother starring at Gilbert. Hopefully we can get him in orange in the near future.
I agree to pick the total amount of points scored by all IIAC teams in the last week of the year as a tiebreaker. Any takers. CLosest to the total scored by ALL teams is the champ.
Ash Park-What is that quote from on your sig line?
Da One-You may be surprised about Sweers, he may get 1st team. I don't see anyone else right now beating him out for it. What I think is more of a shame is that Northern, Hammes, and Schuring can't all get 1st team RB.
To be honest with you, I don't see Wartburg getting many selections at all, that's the way its been the last few years as well. Just a very solid team from top to bottom, but not a whole lot of standouts.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see more picks off the at best 3-7 Luther team than off the at-worst 7-3 Knights.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Any Dubuque Spartans looking to make All-Conference???  I know Belleus has had a good year.

DutchFan2004

Walston and Dutchfan1,

I think that there may be more games for the IIAC  I propose that we use the playoffs to settle the tie breaker.  With the playoff games also pick the total points scored in the IIAC playoff game or games.  How does that sound.  If you are tied and a team advances we will use the final game to decide the tie breaker.  I know you two are slugging it out for the conference games only but there is another race going on as well.  The overall one too. If you want it to be conference games only I like your suggestion of the total points of the last week for the conference games.  As long as the season is extended I think we should keep picking them for the overall champ.

WH and DF2004 -- I am terrible at choosing point spreads. I think we should continue the pick 'em for the playoffs, and whoever has the better record overall, wins.... but I'm game for whatever you guys want to do. (Hell, I've won or tied the pick 'em for the last three years -- I suppose it is time for someone else to win, eh?)

Shame on you boys for letting yourselves get beat by a girl.....4 years running. :)

Why shame on me.  Hey its the 2000's  Mrs Dutchfan is pretty good at picking teams also.  She wins contests against me all the time.  It's not bad to get beaten by a woman.  Thats life.  If you don't want to do the point thing thats cool.  What ever you and Walston want is fine provided that you two are the ones tied in two weeks.   ;D

Why, DF2004, that is very cool -- most guys don't see it that way. Your wife has trained you well! (just kidding!) :) Will you be heading to CR this weekend for the Central/Coe game?

Yes both I and Mrs Dutchfan will be there.  We don't miss a game.  We enjoy watching #10 especially.

Kohawk01,

I am not sure about Jermar.  I can't find last years stats but if I remember I think he was leading the conference last year when he won second team behind Tekippe.  I don't think he has the stats nor does UD have the wins to support him for 1st team.  Your QB, Sweers for Luther, and even Central's Connell have better rating than Jackson does now.  I think he had a lot more TD's vs INT's last year.  9 TD's vs 8 INT's to me isn't first team numbers to me.  I haven't even talked about the UD win loss records yet.  Usually the first team QB comes from a winning program.  So I think that leaves your guy in the drivers seat.  Just my opinion.

DF1...

Ask WH or Alfred... not a person around this board who grew up in more of a ghetto in Iowa than yours truly:)  There might be folks on this board who would call the Coe neighborhood a slight ghetto... but I can't agree with them.  Any institution that sits between the interstate and the main road in the city is NOT that ghetto... it's actually really nice around Coe.

Still... growing up in the ghetto (unless it was CRAZY like mine), you might want to wear a flak jacket.  My skin evolved into a sortof flak jacket (or fat jacket... WH and Alfie have to make the call again).  Either way... bullets bounce off this East Waterloo native!!

One other thing... I am wondering if there was a better week for the pick'em than this last week?  There were a TON of 4-0 and 3-1 ballots... and I'm sure that if Charlie would've been voting with the killer instinct rather than the hopeful wishes, he would've been 4-0 as well.

WH... you are an offensive line coach.  Get your arse on this board and post some lines before the Maroon take the field this week.

Dsquared -- sure, anyone can go 4-0 or 3-1 for a week -- anyone can guess correctly once in a while -- it's sustaining it that is the tricky part. (WH and I have only dropped 5 games all season!) ;)

Wow, W'loo East is total 'hood. I'm sure you're one of the lucky ones that made it out alive, right? ;)
