I argue that I would've only been 1 game out of 1st right now (as I OBVIOUSLY would have picked perfect cards for the first 3 weeks of the season).  As it stands now, I'm 15-6 overall and ready for next year!!

Do you all do hoops pick'em also?

Does Central have a basketball team?? Nah, I only do football.

I can vouch for d2 and his surving the 'hood of E-WA'LOO. Granted it was NOT a rough as when I attended and played for W-burg alum Roger "the Dodger" Kittleson, but the ghetto around Coe has NOTHIN' on the one around East High-Dang I miss the fun.

PS MillBoy and Joe Knighthawk are also E-wa'loo alums.

We all got ed-u-mac-ted @ the corner of High + Vine

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

And let me tell you all... that Vine was MIGHTY High!!!

There are no ghetto's in IOWA, anywhere!!!!  There may be some run down neighborhood's, but definately no getto's.

Alfredeneumann

One man's "run down area" is another man's ghetto. There are sections of W'loo you do NOT want to go into unless you know where you are going and how to get OUT...... NOT BLEEDING

Kohawk01,

I am not sure about Jermar.  I can't find last years stats but if I remember I think he was leading the conference last year when he won second team behind Tekippe.  I don't think he has the stats nor does UD have the wins to support him for 1st team.  Your QB, Sweers for Luther, and even Central's Connell have better rating than Jackson does now.  I think he had a lot more TD's vs INT's last year.  9 TD's vs 8 INT's to me isn't first team numbers to me.  I haven't even talked about the UD win loss records yet.  Usually the first team QB comes from a winning program.  So I think that leaves your guy in the drivers seat.  Just my opinion.

I totally agree with you in regards to W's and how that should correlate to the post season recognition.  Thats kinda what led me away from Sweers, though they've been in basically every game.  The 1st all-conf. QB situation is really a toss up in my opinion, I just went with Jermar because he does so much more than just throw the ball.  Granted he doesn't have the numbers ..... but what can ya do?? Guess thats why i have no say in the matter LOL  ;D

Charlie, CooCoo, I'm assuming you guys will be at the big game on Saturday in Cedar Rapids....do you two tailgate before the game? If so, mind if I stop by your tailgate? (I promise to show up bearing gifts of beer!)  :)
I wouldn't miss it dutchfan1 and would love to take you up on your generous offer, but home game radio responsibilities dictate that I be clean and sober .... well, at least sober. I'm looking forward to a great game and was pleased to see no rain in the forecast.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Might as well throw my picks out there before I give them too much thought:

Coe keeps hope alive with a hard-fought win over Central.
Cornell shocks the IIAC world with a victory over Wartburg.
Dubuque saves the coaching staff with a win over road-weary BV.
Loras takes care of Simpson.

Good luck to all teams, especially those in crimson and gold.

As a real estate appraiser we can't use the term "ghetto", but as a side note the area around Coe would nowhere near be considered ghetto by me.  Maybe around 15th st SE in CR might come as close as CR gets to Ghetto.  And as a Waterloo area resident, the East side...which is actually north...don't get me started about that...is closer to what people think of a tough ghetto type neighborhood.  The fact I grew up in a pretty tough area of St. Louis makes me laugh a bit of people talking about Ghettos in Iowa...there are none here.  Maybe we should talk more about IIAC football.  Like can you believe my Dubuque Spartans have won 4 games in 1 season!!!   They haven't won more than 2 in any season in my bad memory.  I guess the fact they finally have some players that stuck around into their senior season is helping them.  Someone posted on here earlier about Upper Iowa and Dubuque players leaving once the first snow fell and that brought a laugh out of me.  That was a very true statement.  The freshman dorm would empty out by thanksgiving in Dubuque back in my day.

i wasn't aware the coaching staff at dubuque was in any danger of losing their jobs. . .fill me in
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Ash Park

Walston that quote is from Cornell head coach Matt Dillon. He breaks his team out to that before and after games.

Whoever says Waterloo doesn't have ghetto areas becasue they "aren't like bigger cities", I've got one statement for you... DUH!!  Waterloo, on a good day, has 75,000 people in it.  We aren't a city that relies on big, messy industry, but our city took a severe dive in the early 80's when Deere was hit hard.  Put it all in perspective... we've got the west side (south side) that is populated by doctors, lawyers and Deere union guys... we've got the neighbor to the near west that makes the entirety of Waterloo seem like a slum... and when you put those two areas together, it really makes my argument for me.  For a city of 75K with the prime areas that surround it, Waterloo has it's (not PC) ghetto.

That's all for ghetto talk unless someone wants to experience E 4th and Adams... I'd be glad to chaperone the trip.  Otherwise, picks to come after Halloween ends.

Charlie... I gotta love your heart, but your picks made me chuckle again.

The reason I ask Ash Park is I heard our freshmen at Dowling break out to that same saying. I didn't know where they got it from but that explains it.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
