well only being a fan since 2004 i had never seen these shirts till then.  I didn't know that they were old news.  I thought they were rude and tasteless.  Guess I am showing my age.  I was just saying I knew that this was a rivalry but I didn't know how much of one.  Looking from the records though it can't be a fun one for the Simpson fans.

Dutchfan1 - Come on, be original? Aren't you the one that just got done copying and pasting jokes that were funny 15 years ago.

My favorite t-shirt ever - Central girls are ugly.
Followed up the next year with - Central girls are still ugly.

It's funny, yet so true  ;)

stormchaser,

I can see you are equally vicious.  You got love supporting your team.

Oldbeake -- is Maurer still banned from campus? Let the shenanigans begin....

Let's hear some Beake cheers!
It's still unknown if he's allowed on campus...or if any of us are allowed at Bos Landen.    I'm always willing to test those waters, though.

Kaopectate kaopectate...stop that run!

I knew that Simpson and Central were rivals, but as a fan I just didn't know how bad it was.  I have seen the FTD shirts that the Simpson students and fans wear.  I just didn't know how much of a vicious rivalry it was till now.
I always thought that the FTD shirts were complimentary.  Well...because I thought that all Simpson women wanted to do that.  As the saying goes, "If you ain't Dutch...you ain't much."  Right?

If you can't count to ten...there's always Penn!  I miss those guys.

Lame old jokes are the best.

Hi all,
The Dog is back and ready for somemore football like today are you kidding me a 2pt conversion with 7.9 on the clock to get the win on the road. Look out IIAC the Rams are 2-0 the horns are waxed up and ready to but heads with everyone who gets in the way. I havent been this fired up since I was on Binladens tail down by Spin Boldack Afghanistan, go figure that coward was in full retreat I expect the IIAC will show up and play this should be one heck of an exciting year. Coe's win streak may be in danger now that we have a compitant coaching staff that cares about football and winning.
See Ya in 7

Speaking of rivalries (as if), the Cornellians sure have quieted down since their 2-0 start.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

It was really tight in the 90s.  MAN!  Everyone was on the edge of their seat until the scoreboard hit 0:00.

Having run to Indianola twice by foot in a state that could have landed us all in jail...I realized the importance when the team bus passed us and seeing Schipper wave and then pump his fist.

Simpson and Central is as much a rivalry as Iowa/Iowa State is a rivalry.  Little bro gets a chance every once in a great while to kick big bro in the nuts, but it's always the same story.  Iowa State beats anyone in the Top 25 or Iowa and they rush the field... do Simpson fans rush the field after every game that they don't get shut out in?  My vote... maybe!!!

As for bars, restaurants that serve alcohol don't count as bars Pella-ites.  The bowling alley had a decent watering hole and from what I remember there was about 1 other bar in the city.  That was it from my count.

Kind of like the Luther/Wartburg rivalry, or the Coe/Cornell rivalry, or the UD/Loras rivalry...wait....

Back in the day, the Depot and the South Side, and the Dog Pound, and the Octagon, and Doc Salami's were enough to make a decent bar scene. We can't all have a Joe's Knight Hawk...

We've got QUITE the new watering hole up in Wave-town that is giving Joe a run for his money.  I encourage each and every one of you to stop by The Fainting Goat on your next trip through the Evil Empire's domain... just right across the street from Joe's.

I'll leave the no bar talk at rest now, too.  Any outsider that's ever spent an evening in Pella looking for a good watering hole knows the truth.  That's all that needs to be said :)

;D As df1 previously stated...ripping on Pella doesn't really surprise anyone...Central students included.  Pella is a strange place.  When I went there...nothing was open on Sundays.  We had to go to Osky to get a keg for NFL viewing.

The place has changed a TON in the past ten years.  They'd expanded quite a bit the last time I drove through a couple of years ago.  I used to tend bar at South Side when I went to Central.  I don't know if that place is still there or not, though.  I know that Woody has a place on University (I think?)...and it was a pretty good space.

Simpson - Central scores from the past three years:

2005 - Central won 10 - 7
2004 - Central won 13 - 6
2003 - Simpson won 28 - 21

I would be surprised if Central gets the chance to send in the second-string for mop up time.

I think everyone would agree that those Simpson teams were much better than the 06 edition.
30 IIAC Championships
20 Division III Playoff Appearances
